We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable US Federal and State Tax Specialist to join our team and provide expert assistance to the Chairman, CEO and CFO (executives) on personal tax needs and coordinating with corporate tax. In this role, you will work closely with these executives, ensuring their tax obligations are met accurately and efficiently. You will be responsible for compiling, organizing, and analyzing financial and tax-related information to facilitate the timely preparation of tax returns and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will have certain family office and corporate tax elements and requires experience in handling and protecting the confidentiality of personal financial information as well as excellent communication skills in working with executives' financial and tax advisors.
The ideal candidate will have 3 or more years of experience in individual and partnership (LLC, SCorp) US Federal and State tax compliance and planning, particularly related to high-level executives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTax Compliance Support:
Assist executives in gathering, preparing, organizing, and reviewing tax-related documents, such as W-2 forms, 1099 statements, personal financials, tax worksheets and questionnaires and other income records.Collaborate with tax accountants or external tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax returns.
Tax Planning and Optimization:
Analyze executive compensation packages, stock options, and other incentives for tax optimization opportunitiesCollaborate with financial and tax advisors and legal professionals to gather data and analyze tax-saving opportunities, such as deductions, credits, and tax-deferred investments
Executive Compensation Reporting:
Review of executive compensation reports, including Forms W-2, 1099, and Schedule K-1. Reconcile and roll forward reports year over year as needed.Participate in the design and planning of executive compensation programs to drive tax efficiency.Collaborate with human resources to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with tax withholding requirements for executive compensation packages, bonuses, and stock-based compensation.
Tax Audits and Controversies:
Support executives during tax audits or controversies, collaborating with tax professionals to provide necessary documentation and explanations.Conduct thorough research on tax notifications and audit issues and assist in the preparation of responses to tax authorities.Coordinate with legal counsel, as needed, to resolve tax disputes and minimize potential penalties or interest.
5. Other Project / Initiatives
Assist CFO, Controller and Tax Manager with projects and initiatives. Examples may include but are not limited to: FBAR filing and executive reports, annual insurance renewal applications, Corporate 1099s, Vendor 1099s, financial modeling and analysis, testing of internal controls, FATCA analysis and reporting
QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Taxation or relevant certification (e.g., CPA) is highly desirable.3+ years of experience in individual and partnership (LLC, SCorp) US Federal and State tax compliance and planning, particularly related to high-level executives.Strong understanding of US Federal and State tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain tax concepts clearly.Advanced excel skills and proficiency in tax software and technology tools commonly used in tax compliance and planning.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with executives and cross-functional teams.Familiarity with executive compensation packages, equity-based incentives, and related tax implications is a plus
