Overview/ Job Responsibilities
Sev1Tech is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the enterprise architecture, design, development and deployment of network services in support of Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS) networks. The position supports a variety of network technologies such as Cisco routing/switching, Cisco VPN, F5 GTM/LTM load-balancing, Palo Alto firewalls, Broadcom (BlueCoat) Proxies and others.
The Senior Network Engineer will be able to support enterprise solution designs and implementations, core network technology refresh projects, O&M, Cloud integration and migration projects, incident ticket troubleshooting and providing inputs for DHS network modernization architecture and design efforts.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Research and implement enterprise-wide network solutions, capabilities, and enhancements to support customer business/mission goals and objectives, while complying with the DHS's network architecture and design standardsProduce SDLC project artifacts (DHS 4300) such as requirements, design documents, diagrams and other required documentationTroubleshoot network incidents, providing root cause analysis and documenting information in tickets and knowledge repositoriesCoordinate system maintenance, monitoring, and installation of multiple WAN/LAN environments encompassing multiple specializations, platforms, and technologiesTroubleshoot and resolve network media and componentsDevelop and maintain a roadmap for capabilities, operations, and technologiesAssist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementationSupport network traffic analysis and bandwidth optimization efforts to ensure attainment of performance and availability objectivesEvaluate and report on new/emerging network/communication technologies to enhance capacity, performance, and reliability of the networkEvaluate and recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization, and industry best practicesFollows all Customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policiesRepresent customer requirements in technical exchanges with other government agenciesPerform site to new installations and technology refreshDevelop and maintain network architecture diagramsContribute to documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions, and job aids.Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with operations and engineering teams on new solutions, systems, applications, and toolsPerform additional duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related degree (relevant field); relevant experience may be a substitute for education.Six (6 plus) years of federal IT contracting experience on network and infrastructure programsFour (4) to six (6 plus) years hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching and firewall technology (e.g., ISR, ASR, CSR, ASA, Nexus, TACACS/ISE)Four (4) to six (6 plus) years working in a WAN environment, strong experience in incident and operations managementStrong knowledge of routing/switching, firewalls, load balancers and proxy serversHigh level architectural and operational experience with complex networks.Very strong knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, GRE, IPSEC, and VRF)Strong knowledge of IT security related to networks and applications with solutions to mitigate those issuesMust be able to work evening change request windows and provide on-call support after normal business hours as requiredMust have experience creating/writing design documentation, diagrams and other project artifact deliverablesMust be extremely resourceful in learning a very complex and dynamically changing networkMust be able to work independently in fast paced, dynamic environment.Strong knowledge of Cisco technologiesCertification Requirement: CCNA certificationClearance Requirement: Public Trust clearance or higher; Public Trust clearance with Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) or Customs & Border ProtectionDesired Qualifications
