Schneider Electric is seeking a
Procurement Director
responsible to build and lead our Regional Category Managers over
Fabricated Components and Raw Materials.
What will you do?
The Procurement Director will lead the team in the Strategy and the Sourcing of metals, plastics, and fabrication for North America. This leadership role is also responsible to collaborate globally with their peers on methodologies, tools, best practices, and market analytics.
Strategy:
Successfully manage and lead a strong team to actively:
Perform needs analysis for different Schneider entities in North America and segment the category needs.
Perform market analysis / intelligence and identification of market trends that could affect the pricing and supply.
Identify and propose to the cross functional teams a list of Strategic suppliers for the geographic zones as per needs segmentation.
Assess and mitigate supplier risk (quality, bankruptcy, shortage).
Contribute to the development and deployment of the regional cost models, scoring models etc.
Drive dynamically the optimization of the supplier base.
Develop a short, medium, and long term strategy for the specific category (1,3,5-year strategy).
Communicate strategy at executive levels in North America.
Execution:
Successfully manage and lead a strong team to actively:
Directly manage Strategic suppliers and (Director) get involved in key negotiations for the region.
Support the other purchasers (new product introduction, global) in their negotiations (tools, arguments).
Support the implementation of productivity on Quality Value Engineering and Change of Supplier and identify new savings opportunities with the cross functional team.
Plan business reviews with Strategic suppliers located in the geographic zone and assign the task to the respective supplier leaders in that zone. Director to participate in key strategic supplier business reviews.
Follow up on supplier development and improvement action plans.
Deploy supplier development and improvement action plans.
Deploy supplier framework agreements with the Strategic suppliers located in their geographic zone.
Propose to the internal stakeholders the evolution of the Supplier Orientation Chart based on the Evolution of the Category Strategy.
Lead qualification process for any new supplier linked to the category.
Coordinate continuous action plan with internal stakeholders to fight against creation of any new supplier out of team’s control.
Performance Monitoring:
Track the monthly Performance for the suppliers delivering to the region (Quality, Service, Productivity).
Handle most critical crisis with Strategic suppliers.
What qualifications will make you successful?
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Mechanical/ Industrial/Electronics Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related, required.
Master’s degree & Project Management experience is a plus.
+8 years of experience in Procurement, Purchasing or Supply Chain is required.
Prior experience managing category management teams.
History of growing a procurement organization from tactical to strategic.
Experience with developing and partnering with suppliers on volume growth.
Ability to interact and negotiate with Key suppliers and executives on key contracts and services.
Negotiation skills in a complex and moving environment.
Ability to work in multicultural and cross functional mode, strong operational and strategical.
Knowledge on legal contracts and risk management.
Leadership skills with the proven ability to influence others.
Strategic thinking, problem solving and analytical skills.
