Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general ledger account and bank statement reconciliation, preparing journal entries and financial statements, maintaining records retention and assisting the Controller in various audit, analysis and reporting duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Bank and credit card reconciliations
Accounts Payable – posting payables, tracking accruals/prepaids, maintaining orderly filing system
Accounts Receivable – posting receipts, reconciling account
Post daily/weekly tax payments
Reconcile payroll tax accounts
Organize and file monthly notices, keep track of state tax filings, resolve any discrepancies and outstanding notices
Process monthly/quarterly/annual multi state and federal tax returns
Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts
Assist with quarterly and annual audits
Perform ad-hoc reporting and analysis as requested
Special projects as requested
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
Minimum of 2 years on the job accounting experience required
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Sage Intacct experience preferred but not required
Experience with Prism and MasterTax a plus
Skills:
Strong communication skills – both written and verbal
Effective problem solving
Exceptional attention to detail
Proactive
Understanding of, and ability to apply, accounting principles in general ledger maintenance.
