Summary:This position, reporting to the Senior Director, Business Strategy & Analytics, is responsible for managing ETL (extract, transform, load) pipelines, ensuring seamless data flow and accessibility across Nationals revenue and marketing departments. This technical role requires expertise in data engineering, system optimization, and an understanding of the sports industry’s data landscape.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Design, implement, and monitor the Nationals ETL pipelines and data warehouse, ingesting ticketing, concessions, retail, loyalty, and MLB-owned data to enable data-driven decisions across revenue departmentsImplement automation processes to streamline data workflows, reducing manual intervention and increasing efficiencyWork closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement data models that align with business requirements and support analytical needsIdentify and implement enhancements to data systems, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and data qualityConduct in-depth data analysis using SQL, Python, or other tools to derive actionable insights and drive strategic decision-makingMonitor and optimize database and query performance to ensure timely and accurate data retrievalCollaborate with business analysts and IT teams to understand data requirements and facilitate seamless integration with analytical toolsWork with external data vendors to triage and remedy data quality issuesRecommend and advocate for data policies and frameworks for the ongoing management of dataImplement and enforce data governance policies, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data lifecycleMaintain comprehensive documentation of ETL processes, data models, data governance policies, and system configurationsUphold the Nationals' values of Excellence, Performance and AccountabilityOther duties as assignedRequirements:Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsUndergraduate degree, with major in engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related field2+ years of experience in a technical systems integration role, with demonstrated capabilities in data management best practices, long-term maintainability of code, and ability to effectively solve problems pertaining to data infrastructure and integrityFamiliarity with sports industry data and metrics is a plusKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities necessary to perform essential functionsProficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word requiredProficiency in SQL requiredFamiliarity with Google BigQuery preferredFamiliarity with Google Cloud Platform (or with AWS/Azure and willingness to learn) preferredProficiency in Tableau and/or similar data visualization tool requiredProficiency in Python development preferredProficiency with database structures, schemas, and architectures preferredAbility to extract key insights from large, disparate datasets and synthesize into key recommendations for leadershipExcellent communication skills and ability to tailor key messages to the appropriate audienceStrong attention to detailStrong sense of ownership and accountability - a self-starterUtmost standards of integrity in all business dealingsPosition will require some weekend and/or evening workPhysical/Environmental RequirementsOffice: Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
