Job Title: Senior Buyer & Planner Description: At STERIS, we help our Customers create a healthier and safer world by providing innovative healthcare and life science product and service solutions around the globe.**Position Summary**The Buyer/Planner position performs a wide array of activities encompassing the purchasing and planning of materials, outside services, supplies, equipment, and finished goods along with supplier relationship management and negotiations.**Duties**1. Prepares and places purchase orders, verifying specifications and price. Maintains appropriate purchasing files as required.2. Oversee Demand and Resource Planning by collaborating with marketing to update demand plans and communicating need to production3. Collaborates with internal customers (i.e. Production, Buyer, Planner, Quality, Warehouse, etc.) to ensure supplier parts and / or services are obtained to meet schedule requirements while sustaining optimal inventory levels.4. Highlights demand/supply issues and escalates unresolved issues to the appropriate decision maker(s).5. Tracks, evaluates, and implements supplier cost, quality and delivery performance and improvement initiatives via multiple metrics.6. Manages Distribution Center (finished goods) inventory levels and associated parameters (e.g. safety stock) to ensure 99% on time delivery while staying within inventory plans.7. Creates internal sales orders aligned with the replenishment plans.8. Sources, negotiates, and secures quotes from suppliers to obtain most favorable prices and services consistent with quality requirements.9. May provide leadership in a team environment, including providing subject matter expertise in the evaluation of supplier performance.10. Supports Corporate safety initiatives to prevent safety incidents and lean initiatives which eliminate waste(s).#LI-KK1**Duties - cont'd****Education Degree*** Bachelor's Degree**Required Experience**1. Seven (7) years experience in procurement, sourcing, or materials management. Four (4) years experience in Purchasing/Buying/Planning.2. Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Teams.3. Two (2) years direct hands on experience in an MRP system environment.4. Self-sufficient: Able to work independently with minimal instruction from management. Follows instructions and responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments to reach goals; completes tasks on time.**Preferred Experience**1. Technical knowledge of components in the assigned commodities to effectively communicate with and support technical departments at STERIS and the suppliers.2. New Product Development experience.3. Experience in a lean manufacturing environment.4. Self-starter: someone who is proactive, who can lead by example in the absence of a manager. Volunteers readily; seeks increased responsibility; asks for and offers help when needed.5. Experience working in a highly regulated industry.6.
