Position Description
As a Cost Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process for costing and inventory modules, ensuring accuracy of transactions and entriesPrepare and review inventory and cost accounting journal entries and account reconciliationsProvide explanations for fluctuation analysis of worldwide gross marginsReview manufacturing variances and collaborate with operations teams to reduce themGenerate accurate and timely inventory and costing reports for operations teamsAnalyze standard costs and review standard cost roll-ups for new products and production operationsInvestigate and resolve large variances before finalizing rolling standardsCollaborate with operations teams to analyze inventory for potential excess and obsolete reservesInteract with internal/external auditors and provide analysis and audit schedulesEnsure compliance with internal control proceduresProvide management oversight to the cost accounting team and offer informal feedback and coachingConduct annual performance reviews for team membersPosition Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with an emphasis in AccountingAt least five years of experience using a standard cost model in a manufacturing industryAt least three years of hands-on management experience, including overseeing and supervising cost accountantsComprehensive understanding of manufacturing variances, overhead absorption, and standard costsDetailed experience with inventory and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounts reconciliations and related accountingExperience with month-end closing and working in a fast-paced environmentExperience with inventory cycle count processAdvanced skills in Microsoft Excel, creating Pivot Tables, V-LookUps, data merges, filters, and if statementsAdvanced Microsoft Word skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with a variety of other functional areas including operations, material planning, and warehouse teamsPreferred

The base compensation range for this role is $100000 - $130000 / year for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range compensation package during your hiring process.
