Cost Accounting Manager
We are looking for a Cost Accounting Manager to join an innovative start-up medical device manufacturing company.The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the cost of goods sold and inventory accounting, developing and maintaining standard costs, and analyzing manufacturing variances, as well as overseeing the manufacturing and inventory modules in the company's NetSuite ERP system. The position will be responsible for the full cycle cost accounting for every product of the company, including managing all bill of materials (BOMs), working and building relationships with our vendors and contract manufacturers, and supporting/participating/suggesting in cost reduction efforts.This role reports to the VP of Finance and works closely with manufacturing, supply chain, R&D, and quality teams.This is an on-site position located in San Jose, CA.General Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for all aspects of annual standard cost rolls including component cost updates, overhead rates, bill of materials review, and routing maintenance (including labor costs and subcontract processing)Ensure the bill of materials (BOMS) and the routings are accurate.Perform other month-end close activities including Purchase Price Variances, Yield Variances, and Material VariancesManage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closings related to manufacturing operations and inventoryResponsible for gross margin reporting and analysis, standard costs revision, and manufacturing variance reportingConvert actual costs into standard costs while maintaining costs in NetSuiteProvide analysis on cost revaluation to ensure inventory is valued properlyPrepare journal entries and monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliationsDevelop cost models, conduct benchmarking, and margin analysisCollaborate with Purchasing team regularly for inventory costsPrepare work order close review and reconcile perpetual inventory to the General Ledger. Inventory accounts include raw materials, work-in-progress, finished goods and trunk stock. Prepare adjusting entries as neededMaintain inventory / COGS related data and system attributes within NetSuiteMaintain the accuracy of the cost accounting, inventory, and perform monthly reconciliations to the general ledgerInvestigate and provide analysis on all manufacturing variances, including purchase price variance, usage, material and rate variancesMonitor and analyze operational processes and individual work orders to ensure proper data is captured on time, materials and overhead costsIdentify operational opportunities and implement best processes and practicesAssist with ad-hoc projects as required and other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Finance or Accounting requiredMinimum 5-7 years of cost accounting experience; in-depth knowledge of manufacturing accounting. Medical device experience is a plusSome knowledge of general accountingStartup experience is requiredExperience with NetSuite required, experience with Arena preferredProficient with Excel and MS OfficeProven record of working successfully with Operations and R&DSelf-motivated and self-directed; conscientious approach to work assignmentsEnjoys the challenges of multitasking while staying flexible to shift tasks frequentlyAbility to clearly and concisely communicate and collaborate with non-accounting professionalsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail
