Company is looking for a detailed orientated and self-motivated candidate to join our Accounting and Finance departmentas a cost accountant supporting our
RECREATION
segment. As our cost accountant, the selected candidate will be responsible for assisting with accounting duties to ensure timely and accurate processing of financial information.
This position will require travel up to 30%
RESPONSIBILITIES
Determine, manage and maintain standard costs (including Material, Freight In, Labor & Overhead) for all manufactured items
Determine, manage and maintain standard costs (including purchase price, freight, and customs/duties) for all purchased items
Maintain all manufacturing workflows and BOMs; update as required when operating processes change
Reconcile variances to standards at least monthly
Identify drivers of material, freight, labor, and/or overhead variances
Recommend profitability improvements and/or corrections required
Manage inventory costing and process controls
Develop and test inventory controls
Reconcile perpetual inventory balances to trial balance monthly
Review and approve inventory adjustments including because of physical / cycle counts
Collect, analyze, and interrupt operational data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
Review and partner with the operational leadership in the factories to resolve and proactively minimize work order variances; implement processes to ensure earned hours are appropriately recorded on work orders
Participate in the month-end close process book monthly entries and publish monthly operating and cost reports
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, principles, regulatory requirements, and corporate controls
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
CPA / CMA designation or working towards CPA / CMA certification preferred
5+ years of experience in cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting
Essential Skills & Knowledge
Knowledge of NetSuite, Sage, and/or Visual a strong plus
Expert proficiency in Excel
Excellent proficiency in other Microsoft Suite programs including Power BI
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships at all levels of the organization
Strong team work and project management skills combined with ability to work as part of a cross functional team; company has a matrix structure where working across countries and functions is a part of reality
