Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to provide entertainment and cultivate engaging collegiate experiences for students, potential students, alumni, and staff at Mid-State Technical College and to represent the organization in a positive manner within the district and surrounding communities.
This position willwork a flexible schedule; must be available some nights and weekends; paid minimum 2 hours for any event.
Duties & Responsibilities Display enthusiasm and high energy at all times to keep the entertainment level high.
Meet and greet attendees of events.
Preserve the identity of the mascot without deviating from established character including body language/mannerisms, attitude, fan interaction, and College representation.
Work well in a team environment.
Take care of the costume and props when in your possession.
Attend training events.
Understand and perform a series of non-verbal communications signals to be used with the mascot handler in public, e.g, the mascot actor will have a signal when he/she needs to be escorted away from the area. The handler will have a series of signals or code words that the mascot actor understands to communicate information such as a child is scared; back away from the crowd, etc.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Must be in a good physical condition and able to lift and wear the costume (approximately 10-20 pounds).
Ideal height for correct costume fit would be between 5’7” and 5’11”.
Dance or other performance experience preferred.
Previous experience as a mascot actor is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits $20.00/hour
