Job Summary
Responsible for the fair and accurate disposition of property claims by determining coverage, applying policy terms and conditions, determining damages, and negotiating settlementsDuties:
Screens new losses according to projected cost of the loss, the complexity of the claim, and other predetermined criteria to determine if the claim will be handled over the telephone or assigned to an independent adjusterInvestigates and settles desk adjusted claimsSets up claimsDetermines the likely cause of loss and damagesMonitors the submission of supporting claim information from vendors, experts, and attorneysReviews the policy to determine coverage and issues denials when appropriateNegotiates settlement of the claimIssues claim settlement checksCoordinates disposal of salvageInvestigates and prepares claims for subrogation recoveryMaintains current diary on all claimsInvestigates and monitors and settles independent adjusted claimsSets up claims and makes assignments to independent adjustersReviews independent adjusters' reports and estimates for accuracyPerforms other activities as directedQualifications:College degree or commensurate insurance experience required1+ years of insurance experience requiredExperience using an automated claims system required
