The Role: Sensus, a Xylem brand, is seeking a Solution Owner to lead the development of end to end solutions that enable our public service customers to solve new problems with our software & hardware products.
This role will translate customer needs and high level marketing requirements into specifications that define how the solution will be developed and tested, all while collaborating regularly with product management, engineering, customer operations, and solution test.
To succeed in this role, you must be able to communicate across all organizations within the company.
You will work with Product Manager Counterparts to translate, define, and refine solution requirements. You will work with development teams as a representative of the customer and market to create, communicate, and answer questions about requirements. Your role as Solution Owner will bridge the gap between a Product Manager’s understanding of the needs of the marketplace and the detailed solution requirements needed by development teams.
Responsibilities:
Drives Solution Definition
Collaborates with UI/UX Designers and Product Management to define and document an exceptional user experience that spans multiple hardware, software, and firmware products
Develops user stories, use cases, and requirements that support the strategy of multiple vertical markets while developing a consistent solution based strategy and consistency on customer interactions between all Sensus products
Works closely with Product management and Project Management to plan and prioritize content
Exemplifies customer first mentality while ensuring solutions have business value
Collaborates with Product Management, Project Management, and Systems Engineers to make tradeoffs between technical implementation, customer/market needs, and cost / business case
Ensures that the VOC is represented in the design and test strategy
Provides inputs into customer training and documentation requirements
Acts as customer, sales, and operations facing subject matter expert for cross vertical customer solutions
Collects Voice of the Customer inputs by shadowing end users in their day to day activities
Supports alpha, beta, and controlled launch programs gathering and prioritizing customer feedback for roadmaps
Delivers presentations about and demonstrates solutions at trade shows and users conferences
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years’ experience engineering design
Maturity, judgment, negotiation/influence skills; analytical and leadership skills are essential
Detail-oriented, yet able to look at a wide array of choices and identify what truly matters; problem solving skills are a must
Ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
Proven leadership, organization, and planning skills.
Experience working in and understanding the software development lifecycle and complex integration activities strongly preferred
Experience in a fast-paced matrixed technical organization.
Strong written and oral communication skills, experience communicating with internal and external audiences, including customers
Ability to work independently under tight deadlines while responding to changing business and technical conditions.
Approximately 10-25% travel required
