Overview:
GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:Under the general supervision of the Lead Plumber or designee, the Plumber installs, repairs, modifies and maintains plumbing systems; including: sanitary fixtures, compressed air, steam, acid waste, medical gas and gas distribution systems, and water sewage systems.Responsibilities:MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain records and pertinent dataUpdate preventive maintenance proceduresEnsure material and equipment requirements are available as needed to complete working an efficient mannerInstall, repair, modify, and maintain hot and cold water lines, sewer pipes, traps, acid waste lines, valves, toilets, sinks, showers, and other fixtures and all fittingsCut and thread pipe, using stocks and dies, power threading machines, wrenches, power saws, and other toolsCaulk and pack lead joints, valves and pumps using blow torches, welding equipment, chisels, and other toolsClean and maintain acid waste neutralizing tanks, and grease trapsInstall and maintain piping systems made of copper, Pyrex glass, PVC, and tin lined, etc.Conform with codes, rules, regulations and safety standards associated with the tradeOperate, troubleshoot, and maintain all plumbing distribution systems, including high and low pressure, return systems, pumps, pressure reducers, backflow preventers, neutralizing tanks, etc., and install new equipment and services to these systemsDetermine material and equipment requirements to complete work based on drawings, specifications, site examination, and oral instructionsMay exercise functional supervision and instruction of others in installation and maintenance methodsWhile in the performance of routine duties; may be required, as needed to perform all work associated with all maintenance trades of an equal or lower graded classification; where the work or task does not require a specific licensePerform other duties as required.Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Current Massachusetts Plumbing License3 years of experience as a Licensed PlumberThorough knowledge of methods, tools, and practices used in the plumbing tradeThorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions particular to the tradeAbility to travel to off-site locations
