South Carolina State University's Computing Technology and Information Systems department is hiring for a
Senior IT Consultant.
The selected candidate will serve as the network manager for the University and therefore provides leadership in the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the Univerity's network infrastructure, devices, and services, including account management, network and data security, and network monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Advising IT management on the most strategic uses of network technologies to support agency activities
Planning and development of voice and data networks with an emphasis on security
Providing systems maintenance to file servers to ensure a proper operating environment
Planning firmware/software upgrades to the file servers and network devices
Researching and recommending network security upgrades and enhancements
Maintaining a written policy for file storage and retention and monitoring network space
Documenting an agency-wide backup policy for the most efficient backup procedures
Determining and implementing appropriate network security and related policies
Operating an efficient, secure, and safe wired and wireless networked infrastructure
Minimum Requirements for Entry into Position:
A bachelor's degree and experience in automated information or communication system design, installation, operation, repair, sales, or marketing. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Fed Category E2 Pay Band: 08 Salary: Minimum: $63,707.00
Preferred Requirements for Entry into Position:
Knowledge of emerging networking and communications hardware/software technologies.Solid understanding of issues in switching and routing, and experience managing multiple routers.Knowledge of regulatory issues in the communications industry.
