Engineering Technician

to run our lab space and provide technical hands-on engineering support for LineVision products from prototype through manufacturing.The successful

Engineering Technician

will be involved in all aspects of engineering our product, looking under the hood and becoming an expert in its internal workings. They will efficiently execute validation processes and procedures in house, and coordinate efforts with our operations team and contract manufacturer.What will you do?

Core Responsibilities and Key Performance ObjectivesSupport day-to-day operations in the lab, from organization to maintaining equipment to ordering supplies.Fabricate and assemble prototype sensors.Identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues with electromechanical assemblies.Assist with engineering validation efforts for next generation sensor systems.Within Three Months:

Learn how our products work, and about transmission line monitoring technologies in general.Look under the cover and get familiar with our hardware and processes.Build and test prototype electrical and mechanical assemblies for use at LineVision.Build test and programming fixtures for use in-house and at Contract Manufacturer Locations.Perform Hardware Validation Testing and QA Testing of our latest sensor technologies, including support CE and FCC testing.Within Six Months:

Propose and implement design improvements.Perform experiments on our devices to verify performance.Test and validate new firmware, boards and/or assemblies.Troubleshoot issues using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, temperature chambers.Troubleshoot networking issues related to IOT devices by running SQL queries and python scripts.Assist with bringing up a new prototyping/lab space in Charlestown, MA.Within a Year and Beyond:

Be the liaison between Operations and Engineering.Manage electronics laboratory operations, equipment, budget, and identify future needs.Improve our quality control processes.Assist with the continuous improvement/management of our new lab space.There will be tremendous opportunities to grow and move within the company as well.What do you need to succeed in this role?

A passion to be hands on with strong problem solving skills.Ability to fabricate reliable electro-mechanical hardware.Experience using hand tools and basic shop tools (bandsaw, drill press, etc.).Experience with circuit board troubleshooting, rework skills including soldering, using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and other test equipment.Diligent tracking and management of Bill of Materials, prototype and production units, change orders.Comfortable with computers and learning new software tools.
