To enable cancer and population sequencing, Personalis' Clinical Laboratory was built with a focus on clinical accuracy, quality, big data, scale and efficiency. The laboratory is GxP-aligned as well as Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988-certified and College of American Pathologists-accredited.Summary:The NeXT Personal RUO Manager will be instrumental in coordinating revenue, collaboration and development projects to help ensure the success of the NeXT Personal product. This individual will collaborate cross-functionally within the organization and provide guidance to entry level to senior level direct reports in day-to-day activities. They will manage and participate in the daily activities of the laboratory in order to effectively maximize turnaround time, equipment, and material utilization within budgetary constraints while adhering to quality technical standards.Responsibilities:Performs the scheduling and planning of specimen processing to meet established goals for large scale projects for the NeXT Personal product under supervision of the Senior Manager, CLIA Operations.Monitors specimen workflow to assure prompt and timely specimen processing. Provide specimen status updates to manager and laboratory director to assure adherence to scheduling.Participates in hands-on fashion to the daily lab activities:

Extract DNA and RNA from different types of samples (fixated tissues, frozen tissue, blood, saliva and more). Extract cfDNA from plasma samples. Perform quality control of samples and sample storage and management.Perform manual and automated NGS library preparation (DNA and RNA samples); perform quality control of samples; sample management and data transfer to sequencing team.Work with cfDNA samples, create cfDNA libraries and perform custom panel enrichments.Operate next generation sequencing equipment; determine sequencing loading schemes to generate required data deliverable; track sequencing runs and manage data results for customer samples.

Participates in the creation and updating of departmental standard operating procedures and database to accurately reflect the current practices.Procures appropriate supplies and equipment to maximize department efficiency and meet established budgetary and quality goals. Assist team in maintaining reagent inventory.Provides technical oversight of area(s) of responsibility and serves as a technical resource for problem solving and process improvement to ensure accurate performance.Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.Devotes time to direct specimen testing/troubleshooting as needed to maintain adequate workflow.Uses effective two-way communication and participating in general laboratory meetings.Supports, implement, and ensure compliance with all department and company policies and procedures. Assist the QA/QC manager in relation to document preparation.Maintains adequate staffing by interviewing, hiring, training, and competency assessment of personnel.Education and Experience:BA/ BS in Biological SciencesMinimum 6+ years relevant laboratory experience preferred2+ years of supervisory experience requiredWorking knowledge in NGS environment preferredExperience with laboratory automation systems and instrumentationMust have proven leadership, communication, interpersonal, teamwork, technical and problem-solving skills.Strong desire to work in a demanding, high energy, hands-on start up environment with the ability to motivate direct reports and peers to excel.The hiring range for this position is $120,000 to $152,000 per year, which may factor in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
