Suffolk University invites qualified candidates to apply for our Case Manager opening. The Case Manager supports Suffolk student access to off-campus mental health services. The Case Manager coordinates student referrals to mental health services in the community, serves as a liaison to community mental health providers, and maintains/updates the Center mental health resource list. This position also involves responding to referral consultation requests from Counseling Health and Wellness Center staff, students and their guardian/parents.

THIS IS A 10 MONTH, 20 HOUR/WEEK POSITION. PRIMARY/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates student referrals to off-campus mental health services in the community via student appointments and consultations with CHW counseling staff and parents/guardians. Maintains and updates the Center’s off-campus mental health referral resource list via outreach to resources regarding specific services, provider credentials and accepted insurance/payment information as well as by responding to community provider resource listing requests. Develops resource documents for students seeking off-campus mental health referrals (e.g., questions to ask a prospective therapist). Maintains timely and thorough client contact documentation compliant with Center policies and procedures and applicable state laws. Tracks Case Manager service data for CHW Annual Report. Provides psycho-educational and holistic health outreach programs to students, faculty, and staff in collaboration with the Center’s Outreach Team. Assists with CHW campus support services during times of major campus crises and/or psychological emergencies per request of the CHW Director. Attends weekly CHW Counseling staff meetings. Attends monthly CHW Multicultural Dialogue Series as well as monthly Grand Rounds which address holistic health and integrated care, schedule permitting. Attends Center and Student Affairs Division meetings and professional development programs, schedule permitting. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work. Licensed as a counselor or social worker in Massachusetts. Demonstrated experience in clinical case management. Experience working with distressed individuals within a higher education setting and/or community setting. Knowledge of and ability to provide suicide assessment and crisis intervention. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies both on and off campus. Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; strong organizational skills. Knowledge of Massachusetts mental health legal standards and professional ethical standards. Demonstrated multicultural competence in mental health service provision. Strong student service orientation. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This is a 10 month, 20 hour/week position.
