Description:

The AV/MM Engineer provides design, installation and maintenance of Audio-Visual/Multimedia (AV/MM) systems. The AV/MM Engineer is also responsible for the programming and configuration management (CM) of developmental and operational AV/MM systems.

Required Experience:

Five (5) years’ experience as an AV/MM Engineer in a minimum of seven (7) skill sets below within the past seven (7) years:

Analog, SDI and HD SDI signal processing and conversion

Digital video filtering and scalable video coding

Compression and decompression techniques

Encoding and decoding of television standards such as ATSC, QAM, NTSC, PAL

Signal theory and analysis

Audio processing

Sound reinforcement and speaker placement

Sightlines, screen size and projection distances

AES/EBU or AES3 digital audio interlace standards

Cable termination (Fiber, copper, audio, etc.)

Set-up and maintenance of various HD/SD broadcast equipment

Integration of audio and video teleconferencing systems

Set-up of digital video effects systems

Operation and set-up of various production switchers

Operation and maintenance of audio mixers

Integration of wired/wireless microphone systems and configurations

Design and installation of audio support systems

System integration

Custom fabrication of parts and cables

Installation of low voltage wiring and cable; soldering and termination of connectors; wiring of equipment

Two (2) years’ experience in VidCAD or other CAD programs within the past five (5) years

Minimum five (5) years’ experience Crestron programming within the last nine (9) years.

Required Skills:

Must have experience programming CRESTRON AV systems along with interfacing with Cisco VTC equipment.

Prepare operational guides.

Train Government customers in proper use of AV/MM systems.

Provide system programming to support implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Crestron based AV/MM systems.

Provide Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.

Manage the daily operation and configuration activities of AV/MM systems.

Provide assistance to users in accessing and using AV/MM systems.

Design a wide variety of AV/MM solutions including multi-level security VTC/PC systems, enterprise level VTC and collaboration systems, conference rooms, digital signage, and streaming.

Act as equipment custodian and performs inventory asset management and accountability functions. Document hardware and software configuration management processes and procedures.

Coordinate hardware installations across multiple rooms.

Maintain and develop the environment for hardware and software product build, staging, testing and integration.

Apply concepts and define and implement hardware and software configuration management processes and procedures, such as creating product build scripts and procedures, and integrate those scripts with the hardware and software build process.

Conduct analysis on AV/MM systems by ensuring designs are cost efficient, able to be integrated, and reliable.

Communicate with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completion.

Design, document, and develop code for programmable devices.

Analyze complex hardware systems, hardware design, architecture, network design and other technical hardware issues.

Perform testing on equipment.

Provide hardware maintenance support, both preventative and remedial.

Deploy, install, and implement new AV/MM at Customer sites as needed.

Conduct site surveys.

Streamline control system interfaces to automate and maximize user experience.

Configure control systems, communication devices and peripheral equipment.

Develop costing proposals for the program manager.

Perform telecommunications punch block installation and maintenance for serial copper data paths.

Interpret drawings, specifications, and other related documents.

Desired Skills:

Programming CRESTRON AV systems

Programming and configuration of Cisco VTC Systems (SX-20/SX-80/Mini Room Kit/Room Kit Pro).

Knowledge of security protocols: SSL, TLS, encryption

Audio processing

Sound reinforcement and speaker placement

Sightlines, screen size and projection distances

Knowledge of AV-over IP.

Integration of audio and video teleconferencing systems

Design and installation of audio support systems (microphones, amplifiers, and interfacing with Skype)

Five (5) years’ experience Crestron programming within the last nine (9) years. Certification as a Crestron Programmer, Crestron Technology Specialist (CTS) and/or CTS-Installation and/or CTS-Design training certification is desired.

LCAT Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

Four (4) years of additional AV/MM experience in the areas identified above may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree for a total of nine (9) years’ experience.

Certification as a Technology Specialist (CTS) and/or CTS-Installation and/or CTS-Design training certification is desired.
