The dean and staff serve as consultants on all academic matters, such as course changes, choice of major, and degree requirements.Requisition ID37075BRTravel RequiredUp to 25%Major/Essential FunctionsProvides effective leadership in the medical education, research, and clinical service missions of the schoolCollaborates with the faculty and staff to establish a shared vision and develop a comprehensive strategic plan for the next phase of growth for the schoolSupports the dedicated faculty, staff, and learners to advance the school’s strategic prioritiesDevelops strong relationships with the executive leadership of TTUHSC El Paso, its component schools, and its affiliated clinical facilitiesOversees the conduct and quality of the undergraduate and graduate medical education programs, and ensures the success of the students and traineesProvides coordinated oversight of the medical school curriculumEnsures that the clinical environment provides high quality patient care and is conducive to the appropriate integration of the educational and research programsProvides necessary support to establish a community of scholars to facilitate faculty and learners’ active participation in research and scholarly activitiesRecruits, appoints, and supervises associate/assistant deans and department chairsAppoints members of the standing committees based on recommendations and nominations made by the PLFSOM Faculty Council and the PLFSOM Academic CouncilPrepares and administers the budget of the PLFSOMServes as a member of the TTUHSC El Paso President’s Executive CommitteeMaintains a visible presence in the community and seeks opportunities to advance the school through philanthropy and community foundation partnershipsParticipates personally in teaching, scholarship, and/or clinical serviceEnsures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulationsAdheres to institutional and departmental policies and proceduresUpholds and promotes the values-based culture of TTUHSC El PasoDemonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L.
