For more information, visit reedsmith.com.Position SummaryReed Smith is assembling one of the biggest data analytics programs in the legal market, which complements our investments in our new Innovation Lab and our Applied AI team focused primarily on Generative AI. We have worked with our executive leadership to create a roadmap of use cases focused on creating strategic insights related to our clients, lawyers, risk, business opportunities, and global growth. We have constructed an impressive data warehouse and underlying business systems, but we are still building out our full team to mature our data analytics platform. Therefore, this position will be a key member of our data analytics team.The Data Analyst will be responsible for creating and maintaining data visualizations, reports, and dashboards that provide insights into the Firm’s business areas and trends. This role requires a strong understanding of data analysis, data visualization tools, and programming languages. It supports and works alongside the Firm’s administrative departments as well as management and fee earners.The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate should also possess excellent communication and collaboration skills, as this position will be working closely with stakeholders across the organization to deliver actionable insights.Essential FunctionsWork with the Director of Client Intelligence and team to progress forward looking (predictive, prescriptive) analytics.Leverage business intelligence tools (such as Tableau) to deliver visual and impactful insights to decision makers, reducing time spent required to interpret data; use data to tell a story which initiates action.Design, develop, deploy and evolve various internal dashboards, reports and analyses for fee earners and functional departments within the firm. Purposes include but not limited to assisting with targeting, cross-selling, pitching, client reviews, events, practice development, planning, strategy, and identifying opportunities across our client bases, geographies, industries, and practice areas.Create analytics-driven solutions that help solve business problems; understand the characteristics of data sets and identify patterns; train end users on completed solutions to drive adoption.Suggest and own new processes, reports, dashboards, or other analytic pursuits that drive user adoption and interest in data analytic efforts across the firm.Review, test and validate new reports and dashboards to ensure data consistency and accuracy.Develop a solid understanding of key clients, their businesses, and the Firm’s lawyer/client relationships.Monitor client information, including client relationships and leadership; provide upkeep of records, work with firmwide data processing.Conduct research, data entry, data cleansing, and list building, using information from the firm’s billing and CRM systems, as well as outside sources, as needed to support analytic efforts.Work with users across functional departments to answer reporting related questions. Assist with ad hoc reporting and data analysis projects as needed.Train and support those involved in utilizing reporting.Assist in upholding standards/guidelines/best practices for those involved in financial reporting, as well as influence analytics efforts across the firm.Assist in documenting and maintaining a glossary of metric measurements used in reporting and business analytics tools.Work closely with other administrative teams including innovation, knowledge management, finance, strategy, client value, marketing, IT, operations, accounting, business managers, etc. as required to help with consistency, continuity and to avoid duplication of work.All other duties as assigned.Job functions included are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s Degree and/or additional certifications a plus.Experience: Required:
3+ years of experience in financial reporting & analytics, financial systems, business analysis and data visualization. Excellent communication, organization, and prioritization skills. Able to effectively interact with individuals at all organizational levels.Skills:
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, SQL, statistical analysis tools such as R or Python, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI (Tableau preferred). Familiarity with Snowflake a plus. Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, including manipulating large datasets. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills. Flexibility and ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities. Ability to work autonomously.
