And, more than anything, it’s about bringing people together.If you’re ready to be a part of our team, we encourage you to apply.Job DescriptionBrookfield Properties has an immediate need for an Accountant-Financial Reporting at the corporate office in Chicago, IL.The Accountant's primary roles include monthly and quarterly GAAP and IFRS financial statement preparation for consolidated and joint venture properties, assisting in the preparation and analysis of financial information required for consolidated and joint venture financial statements, preparing affiliate transaction reporting, and managing the disclosures for a portfolio of consolidated and unconsolidated shopping malls.Overall, we seek qualities that display our company’s core values which are Act with Integrity, Take Initiative, Build Mutual Trust, and Win Together.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and footnote disclosures for GAAP and IFRS quarterly and annual reportingProduce financial reporting information for the Company’s joint venture partners and respond to their requests timelyWork with auditors to assist in quarterly and year-end audit procedures including audit requestsPerform monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement variance analysisPrepare quarterly affiliated transaction reporting for managementAssist in preparation of quarterly GAAP and IFRS transactions logEnsure compliance with internal controls for SOx purposesCoordinate with other departments (i.e. Property Accounting, Treasury, Finance etc.) to ensure all information is submitted to Financial Reporting timelyTake part in the Company’s initiative to implement new enterprise systemAssist with special accounting and financial reporting projects, as neededOther duties as assignedQualificationsHigh School diploma or GED requiredBachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA preferred1-2 years’ experience in SEC or other public filing reportingBig Four public accounting or real estate experience a plusCurrent knowledge of GAAP and other sources of authoritative accounting guidance, such as IFRSAbility to work productively in a team settingStrong written and oral communication skillsProactive, deadline focused and organizedStrong analytical ability and proven problem-solving skillsMust be proficient in Microsoft ExcelPast experience with accounting software preferred, such as JD Edwards and OneStreamWe are proud to create a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
