Job DetailsJob LocationChesterfield MO - Chesterfield, MOPosition TypeFull TimeEducation LevelGraduate DegreeTravel PercentageNoneJob ShiftAnyJob CategoryEducationDescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:Provide instructional support for courses including but not limited to Pathology, Histology, Anatomy, Anatomy Lab, or other basic science courses.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESModel the mission, vision, and values of the University and colleges in a positive, ethical, and professional mannerBe accountable to students and administration with respect to delivering quality student-centered education.Use current and relevant information in course content delivery.All courses should have a required course text unless exempted by the administration.Come to class prepared and on time, use class time effectively, and maintain professional conduct in the classroom.Update and publish the course syllabus prior to the start of the term. Syllabus should include contact information and office hours. All information (course objectives, reading assignments, testing, grading, etc.) contained in the syllabus must be clearly stated and unambiguous.Establish and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.Assessments must have sound instructional value with accurately measured and well defined objectives. Assessment instructions must be clear. Evaluation should appropriately represent the information presented in the course.Grade assignments according to the established grading rubric in a timely manner. Provide formative and summative feedback on classroom assignments and activities.Maintain regular office hours and provide ample time for student support.Coordinate with student affairs to provide reasonable accommodations as neededMeet all administrative and classroom deadlines.Be able to teach in various formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online).Report to Program Director if absent or unable to attend the class.Maintain student privacy according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)Review and honor institutional policies, procedures, and guidelines as outlined in Logan University Employee and Faculty HandbooksRead, understand, and follow all Faculty Handbook information and policies.Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and college ceremonies.Treat colleagues, staff, and students in a professional manner.Refraining from making pejorative statements regarding the University, fellow faculty, or staff personnel in the presence of students or patients.Notify appropriate Logan personnel of damage to Logan property. Should report problems that affects any aspect of the University to the program director or appropriate department.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsCOMPETENCIES: Key competencies beyond field-related expertise include social and emotional intelligence, courage, conflict management skills, decision-making skills, influence skills, and content expertise consistent with the position description, responsibilities, and attributes. To perform the job successfully, an individual must have a strong organizational ability. The individual must have successful support experience, strong interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, be a good listener, and be able to work with individuals and groups effectively. The individual must be able to set goals and objectives, prioritize and plan work activities, and meet deadlines. Theability to handle the pressures of balancing the time required dealing with individual problems of faculty, students, and staff while completing the necessary responsibilities is expected.QUALIFICATIONS: The individual must possess a professional (MD, DO) or a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Pathology with a documented successful teaching experience at the college or graduate level.All qualifying degrees and coursework must be from a college or University accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the US. Secretary of Education, or, in the case of degrees from non-U.S. institutions, an equivalent degree as determined by an approved credential evaluation service.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Basic math skillsrequired. Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have general computer skills, including communication tools (email), presentation tools, word processing, and spreadsheets.Certificates,Licenses,Registrations:Required as appropriate to the degree possessed.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
