Job Title: System Administrator Location: Mechanicsburg, PA (Hybrid) Duration: 8 Months Note: This position is predominantly remote with occasional on-site work required (DOC Central Office, 1920 Technology Parkway, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050). Overview: We are looking for a skilled and experienced Systems Administrator with experience in Active Directory, VMware, and Veeam to join our team. This position would be a fulltime staff augmentation role supporting the Client As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for deploying, managing, and maintaining the organization's computer systems and networks. This role requires a firm understanding of these specific technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to ensure operational readiness, reliability, and security of the Commonwealth's IT infrastructure. Responsibilities: Manage and maintain the organization's Active Directory environment, including user account management, group policies, and security settings. Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of VMware infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines. Perform regular backups and disaster recovery planning using Veeam Backup and Replication, ensuring data integrity and availability. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize resource allocation for virtual machines to ensure optimal performance. Maintain and update system documentation, including network diagrams, configuration changes, and troubleshooting procedures. Configure and manage Windows servers, including file servers, web servers, and application servers. Install, configure, and manage antivirus software intrusion detection systems and other security tools to protect Required/Desired Skills : Antivirus software, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools to protect the network and systems. Respond to user support requests, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and provide timely resolution to minimize disruptions. Collaborate with other IT teams to implement and manage domain security policies, access controls, and identity management solutions. Work closely with the IT team to plan and implement infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and technology enhancements. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices related to Active Directory, VMware, and Veeam technologies. Conduct regular system performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and recommend system optimization strategies. Assist in managing IT assets, including inventory management, procurement, and license compliance. Participate in the development and execution of disaster recovery plans and business continuity strategies. Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members, helping them troubleshoot complex issues and improve their knowledge. Collaborate with vendors and third-party support providers to resolve system-related issues and escalate problems when necessary. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Conduct system vulnerability assessments and implement security patches and updates to mitigate potential risks. Skills and Qualifications: Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role with a focus on Active Directory, VMware, and Veeam. Strong expertise in managing and troubleshooting Active Directory, including user management, group policies, and security settings. Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining VMware infrastructure, including vCenter Server and vSphere ESXi hosts. Experience with Veeam Backup and Replication for data backup, recovery, and replication. In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and administration. Familiarity with network protocols, routing, and switching concepts. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Proactive mindset with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively within a team and provide user support. Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), CompTIA A, Network, Security and/or Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE) is a plus.
