Summary
Under the direction of the Supervisor and Team Leader, the Shuttle Driver conducts safe and efficient vehicle movement/parking while also conducting preparations on new factory condition vehicles for various stages of logistics processing.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
PrimaryDrives new finished-product vehicles to designated locationsDrive and park vehicles in accordance with the Transportation & Handling ManualDrivers must have the stamina to sit for several hours at a time, and the hand-eye coordination to operate their vehicles while watching their surroundings to maximize safetyMaintain constant contact with the Team Leader and keep track of pickup and drop-off locations as necessaryPrior to driving vehicles, inspect vehicles to ensure that it is damage-free and functioning correctlyMust follow all Port traffic policies and posted speed limitsAny unsafe conditions or road hazards encountered must be reported to managementIf their vehicle develops mechanical difficulties or sustains damage of any type, drivers must document the problems and report to managementRead and understand parking location mapsSecondary
Prepares vehicles for various stages of processingPerforms tire pressure checks using a hand-held pressure gaugePerforms battery condition checks using hand-held equipmentDrives vehicles on/off conveyorsRemoves exterior/interior plastic protective wrapDrives vehicles to fueling stations and through automated car washesRemove trash from vehiclesComplete checklists as requiredTertiary
