EXPERIENCE:Have a minimum two years of experience as an architectural draftsperson/CAD operator or GIS operator or planner in a related fieldDirect experience obtained in an architectural firm or in another design or planning profession preferredPosition Function/Purpose
Provide daily production of architectural CAD (Computer Aided Design) and GIS (Global Information Systems) services for the District Architects Office and School Plant Services
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Production of the day to day assignments for the district drafting, CAD and GIS departmentWork directly with the Supervisor of CAD & GIS Services in scheduling the drafting, CAD & GIS production for all in house architectural and planning projectsDrafting room/plan room organization, filing and blue line printing. Maintain drafting room/plan room equipment and suppliesOrganize and produce architectural plans and specifications for all assigned district projects with the direct or indirect supervision of the Director Facility DesignProvide graphic, drafting, CAD or GIS services for the office of School Plant Services (SPS) or MISD as directedCoordinate word processing required for architectural, CAD or GIS document production with the SPS data entry staffProvide field related services such as; site surveys, GIS surveying, building surveys, site measurements, project deliveries, etc. as assigned. These duties may be performed without direct site assistance or supervisionPerform deliveries as necessary as assigned. All deliveries or site assistance will be performed with the use of an MISD assigned vehicle (temporary assigned use)Other duties as assigned by the Director Facility Design or Chief of Facilities and Operations or Construction ServicesAs assigned, shall serve on the rotating 24-hour emergency on-call service for School Plant Services
Special Knowledge/Skills:Computer literate in the use of a computer system with AutoCAD software or GIS softwareComputer literate in the use of Microsoft Office software package (Office, Excel, Work, PowerPoint, Publisher)Must have proficient grammatical skills (oral and written)Must be self-motivated and diligent to finish an assigned or designated task or project with minimal assistanceMust have proficient architectural and GIS project production and organizational methodology skillsCongenial personality, with emphasis on an ability to work with othersMINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Certification/Education:
High School Diploma or GEDValid Texas Driver License and acceptable driving record; must adhere to Midland ISD's vehicle safety & use program
Physical Demands• Light lifting required (up to 45lbs.)• Use of fingers• Use of eyes• Remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time• Perceive color as defined by the Society Color Council-National Bureau of Standards system• Operation of motor vehicle• Daily use of computer workstation, large format printers, GIS handheld hardware and other office equipment
Work Environment• Standard office environment.• General construction or maintenance environments including; building construction sites, roofs, mechanical rooms, attics/crawl spaces and other room or space in district facilities.• Must be willing to help support and supervise all work in any type of school related work environment.
