Job Description

Job Profile Summary Parker LORD is looking for an Application Engineer I / Application Engineering Specialist I in our APS Division. This role is located fully onsite in our Wixom, MI location. This role is in a chemical laboratory environment, working on projects for external customers, internal manufacturing plants, or internal technical staff for both the Structural Adhesive and Electronic Materials Product lines. The role will include executing test requests, operating lab/test equipment, managing lab calibrations, equipment repairs and maintenance, and conducting in-house customer trials, demos, and training. Data analysis and communicating results in written reports and verbal meetings will be commonly needed. Minimal travel is expected

Job Responsibilities Required Strong safety awareness in a chemical lab environment and adherence to the company's quality and ethics standards. Consistently perform routine laboratory assignment of moderate complexity and scope under minimal supervision. Technical lead on low complexity, short term projects. Leads portions of larger projects as a team member. Actively train co-workers in the proper methods of performing work assignments. Make adaptations and modifications of experimental procedures where needed, including suggestions regarding samples, tests, equipment, etc. Make suggestions and participate in team continuous improvement activities. Obtain and record accurate and complete data, creating the appropriate forms. Communicate results effectively through both oral and formal written reports. Oversee laboratory equipment and supplies. Responsible for lab cleanliness, maintenance, and organization. Involved in the specification and purchase decisions of new equipment. Identify and understand laboratory or testing problems and issues from internal and external customer's perspective and seek to find feasible and effective solutions. Minimal travel expected.

Competencies Required

Minimum Education & Work Experience: 7 years' work experience if no bachelors' degree. 0 years' work experience if relevant bachelor's degree. Relevant bachelor's degrees include chemistry, material science, or engineering.

Operate in a safe manner with high quality and ethics in an active customer manufacturing environment, following customer policies and procedures and Parker LORD policies. Possess strong attention to detail. Possess adequate visual acuity to read and understand chemical container labels and to safely work in a chemical laboratory with hazardous chemicals. Possess solid written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to apply basic statistics and interpret and communicate results. Ability to utilize computerized equipment and computer software packages including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, and SAP.
