Job Summary

The Controller will be based in Vail but have responsibility overseeing the financial operations and finance teams for both Vail and Snowmass regions.The Controller directly oversees the financial reporting, accounting, tax and risk management functions of the Colorado residential resort management business. This role oversees the financial reporting and provides leadership support to the Assistant Director of Finance, Chief Accountant, and Accountants.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Prepares and provides oversight of the preparation of financial statements.Reviews monthly financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.Meets with department heads to review monthly financial statements and forecasts.Reviews and approves all disbursements.Prepares reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, looking at the past and into the future.Manages the annual audit process and delegates audit tasks to the finance team, including HOA audits and reviews.In conjunction with the Director of Finance, budget preparation and presentation.Oversees the fixed asset system.Assists in strategic planning and management meetings.Oversees accounting and budgeting for capital expenditures.Oversees all HOA accounting and financial reporting.Responsible for presenting financial reports to owners and HOA’s.Fosters a team environment with a focus on teamwork, personal and professional development, and autonomy.Works with People Services to ensure a high performing and high functioning finance team.Responsible for regular team member reviews and interviewing and hiring when required.

Qualifications

4-year accounting degree or comparable industry experience.Minimum 2 years in a leadership role with at least 1 direct report.Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.Strong organizational and time management skills.Ability to work autonomously, with little direction and oversight.Ability to work remotely as desired and in a collaborative office environment.Strong problem-solving skills and a solution-focused attitude.Comfortable working for an organization in a growth phase with the ability to be nimble and flexible with changing business needs.Passion for growth and change and an entrepreneurial approach to work.Helpful attitude and the ability to “speak to your audience”.Ability to properly handle confidential and sensitive information.Ability to motivate a team and lead with the utmost moral and ethical judgement.This position may require travel to Snowmass infrequently, to spend some time in-person with the onsite finance team.Excellent computer skills with experience using Microsoft Office.
