Overview

National multidisciplinary design firm is seeking a talented Structural Engineer to join their Sacramento, San Diego or Los Angeles office. In this role, you will work directly with the architecture studio and other engineering disciplines on a variety of project types across the nation.

The firm has 11 offices all around the world focusing on healthcare, arts and culture, community, corporate, education, and government projects. Recently, the firm won the prestigious American Architecture Award for Museums and Cultural Building, along with IIDA Healthcare Design Award.

Responsibilities

Performs Structural engineering duties and responsibilities as delegated by the Project Manager maintaining a commitment to design and quality in a manner consistent with project expectations and that is responsive to the client's needs and deadlines consistent with the company's engineering procedures, standards and quality expectations.

Makes calculations, using engineering formulas and skills for structural designs such as structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry and wood structures.

Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates Structural engineering work.

Resolves a variety of complex problems, i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult condition requirements.

Provides drawing for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by technicians or other project resources.

Researches design options and document findings for Project Engineer.

Reviews shop drawings.

Researches code issues and ask general questions of code officials.

Organizes and maintains project files.

Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with design standards.

Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or services.

Maintains ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues or time/budget constraints that may impact initial assignment.

Interacts and communicates effectively and professionally with other team members.

Utilizes past knowledge and experience to enhance the quality of product, recognizes problem issues, communicates impact to team and seeks clarity when necessary.

Provides Project Engineer with project management and administration assistance.

Provides data for evaluation of budget compliance and project billings.

Prepares progress reports, project correspondence and status reports.

QualificationsCandidates must have a BS degree. We are looking for at least 3 years of experience with structural steel and reinforced concrete design, and proficiency with using Ram Structural System. This is a very team-driven environment, so demonstrated abilities to work in a collaborative setting are critical.
