Intramotev is seeking an Machine Learning/AI Developer to join the software development team to meet growing demands in the development of self-propelled rail vehicles. Intramotev is developing multiple unmanned self-propelled vehicles. The role has a strong software focus – the successful candidate will be a member of the development team for innovative self-propelled capabilities in areas such as using the results from the obstacle detection Machine Learning (ML) / Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms and RADAR/sensors fusion to make real-time decisions during route execution for current and future platforms. The development of these capabilities include multi-disciplinary skills - algorithms development, systems development and integration. This position will be based out of St. Louis, MO.
This position is responsible for designing and deploying the AI models Intramotev uses on its TugVolt rail cars to detect rail points of interest and potential obstacles.
This position involves working in a dynamic team environment on small (1-2) to medium (3-6) person projects where excellent interpersonal and communication skills are needed.
Due to the research nature of the work, project objectives and requirements are likely to evolve over the course of the role.
A small amount of domestic travel to support integration, demonstration and customer engagement may be required.

Position Responsibilities
Craft a dataset for rail POIs
and potential obstacles
Design deep learning neural
network models for object detection
Train, test, and optimize
neural network models
Work with automation and
controls engineers to deploy neural network models to embedded hardware
Test and validate to ensure
system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
Solve problems concerning and
provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire
product lifecycle.
Research technological
advancements for potential application to company business needs.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
At least a Bachelor’s Degree
in Engineering, Mathematics, Science (see preferred below)
1-3+ years experience with
automated decision making, machine perception, multi-vehicle collaborative
control and autonomy architectures
1-3+ years developing deep
learning AI models
1-3+ years developing
software with Python, C++, or similar languages
Deep familiarity with
Tensorflow, PyTorch, Keras, and other essential machine learning libraries
Fluency in Linux bash and
Windows cmd/PowerShell command languages.
Motivated, detail-oriented
Willingness to expand into
technical areas beyond your area of expertise; ability to develop
innovative and novel approaches
Open-minded and comfortable
working in a teaming environment or as an individual contributor
Fluent in both written and
verbal English
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Candidate should have a working knowledge of one or (ideally) multiple areas listed below:
Prefer a Master’s Degree in
Artificial Intelligence Engineering
Experience with embedded edge
devices such as NVIDIA Jetson
Familiarity with data science
tools such as Scikit-Learn, SciPy, and MATLAB
Unmanned Rail Systems /
Unmanned Systems
Demonstrated experience
working on project teams and collaborating with other engineering
disciplines.
Typical Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master+1 years' related work experience, 3 years' related work experience, etc.).
