Position Title: Director, Business Intelligence
Location: New York, NY (Headquarters)
Position Summary: The Director Business Intelligence leads and develops the use of syndicated data sources to drive meaningful shifts in business planning. Our Business Intelligence team is responsible for being the 'one center of truth' for the company, as well as enabling data democracy across the organization. Tangibly, this means maintaining all major syndicated data contracts, reporting out performance, building analytical tools and conducting ad hoc major investigations. The candidate will have a wide remit to develop new ways of working within the organization, centralizing existing activities and building out a service model for new ones. The successful candidate for this role will:
Have significant experience running a business reporting or analytics teamIs fluent in Nielsen or IRICan drive insights and compelling storytelling out of data signalsThinks laterally about data and insights, integrating various inputs into a 360 viewHas strong capacity to balance competing demands and lay out a realistic staffing modelIs comfortable with ambiguous, 'patchwork' data sets
Major Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
Lead and develop the Business Intelligence team, including scoping roles and managing organizational priorities. A key emphasis will be on upskilling the organization and mentorship.Establish a mid-and-long-term learning agenda and budget to support reporting and analytical needs of the company. Nature & Scope: The Business Intelligence team reports to the VP of Portfolio Growth, alongside Media Transformation, Portfolio Strategy, Analytics and Insights. This is a new role managing an existing team of two with several open roles (total team size will be about 5 analysts).
The Business Intelligence Director will be a high profile role because he/she will be the "one" center for market place performance truth for the entire company. This role will be responsible for C-Suite reporting and recommendations. In addition, the team (led by the Director) will be driving an agenda of upskilling the entire organization on use of data to make informed business decisions.
Requirements:
Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree (or equivalent); MBA or advanced degree preferable
Experience / Background: 10+ years of business experience, with significant experience / expertise in major CPG syndicated data sources (IRI, Nielsen). Must have working knowledge of customer specific data bases (e.g. RetailLink, Kroger). Exceptional data visualization and storytelling capability. Experience leading a team.
