The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the MetroHealth System, Case Western Reserve University is seeking applications for a Maternal-Fetal Medicine Subspecialist to expand to a seven-member division.

The Department offers OB/Gyn specialty and subspecialty services at multiple sites across the MetroHealth System and our Cleveland community. We are seeking a clinically oriented physician who will practice at one or more of our clinical sites and will participate in fellow, resident, and medical student education. In addition to being a Clinical Center within the Eunice Kennedy Shriver NICHD-MFMU (Jennifer Bailit, MD, MPH - PI) and NuMoM2b-HHS2 (Brian Mercer, M.D. - PI) Research Networks, the Divisions ongoing funded research includes studies regarding hypertension, preterm birth prediction and prevention, fetal membrane physiology, and evaluation and implementation of quality of care measures. Our perinatal database is the oldest ongoing electronic database in the country - extending back to 1974. Our electronic Medical Record extends back to 2000. Each of these provides significant opportunity for research addressing pregnancy complications, generational impacts of health disparities and social determinants of health. The Case Western Reserve University CTSA-Clinical Research Unit is located adjacent to our L&D and NICU suites, offering support for clinical and bench research. The population we serve is diverse, both socially and economically. Our faculty is committed to caring for all, and to improving the health of our whole community.  We are actively involved in the education of MetroHealths MFM fellows, residents and Case Western Reserve University medical students. CWRU offers the only Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship in Northeast Ohio.

The MetroHealth System is redesigning our campus with an innovative transformation plan to exceed the ever-changing needs of our patients and community programs. This billion-dollar transformation is the largest public construction project in Cuyahoga County and one of the largest in the nation.  In November 2022 the MetroHealth community moved into the new hospital, featuring 270 private rooms and new state of the art facilities to support our patients and staff.  In January 2023, the new Labor and Delivery and NICU will open.  MetroHealth is also a national leader in population health initiatives and improving the social determinants of community health.  We invite you to be our partner in this important journey as we strive to transform health care in Northeast Ohio.
