We are building a diverse and collaborative team of folks who are "amped about cement" (pun intended), who share our values (excellence, creativity, and teamwork), and our motivation to create a better world.Sublime Systems seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations of the company and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is an exceptional project accountant with strong organizational skills as well as an excellent communicator who can lead by influence verbally and in writing. They can coordinate cross-functionally to ensure grant tasks are completed on time by multiple stakeholders. This is a full-time, in-person position in Somerville, MA, with flexibility to occasionally work from home depending on team and project needs.Job Duties/ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day accounting activities to ensure accurate recording of transactionsPrepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring accuracy and regulatory complianceLead the month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate reportingSupervise payroll processing, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and maintaining state payroll tax registrationsDevelop and document standard operating procedures to streamline accounting functions and enhance internal controlsSupervise invoice processing to ensure accuracy, proper coding, and timely paymentCollaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making process and support business initiativesPrepare financial updates for stakeholders, including VP of Finance and Board of Director MeetingsSpearhead efforts to improve accounting systems and procurement processesPrepare necessary documentation and provide support during year-end audits and tax compliance, including liaising with auditors and tax authoritiesAssist in the annual budgeting process and manage grant financial reporting and billingOversee special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as neededMentor and train other accounting staff as the team grows, promoting their professional growth and developmentIdentify and implement new accounting software and systems that are necessary to support the company’s growthMonitor new accounting standards in the future that the company may need to adoptQualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience at the manager level10+ years of accounting experience in private industryCPA certification is highly preferredExperience with public accounting (preferably audit) and grant accounting management strongly preferredProven experience in building or leading analytics functions for startupsHigh-level of comfort with accounting software and financial systemsExcellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Familiarity with compliance and audits, including experience in liaising with auditors and tax authoritiesExperience in manufacturing, inventory, and fixed asset accounting strongly preferredDemonstrated experience in QuickBooks Online, Procure Desk, BILL, Ramp, or similar softwarePrior experience in implementing and/or operating advanced accounting software such as NetSuite, Intacct or others is a bonusExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesDetail-oriented with a high degree of accuracyAbility to work independently and as part of a collaborative teamExceptional organizational and time-management skills
