The Data Science team at Tandem is tasked with empowering stakeholders to use data for better and faster decision making across all aspects of the business lifecycle. As a Data Engineer on the Tandem Data Science Team, you will use cloud technology to develop robust data pipelines and operationalize machine learning models and algorithms. This team member will use Tandem’s data assets to solve data-driven problems at scale, improve operational efficiency through forecasting and automation, and improve business outcomes.Partners with data scientists and data architects to operationalize machine learning models and algorithmsBuilds robust, fault-tolerant data pipelinesBuilds monitoring infrastructure to give visibility into the data pipeline’s status and the impact of jobs on cluster performanceLays the groundwork for data scientists to easily access data they need to research and prototype parallelizable models, algorithms, and visualizationsCleans, consolidates, and processes unstructured dataProvides subject matter expertise in data and software engineeringSupports the team in the development and/or implementation of data products or models.Attends industry and academic conferences to keep up to date with the state of technology.Ensures compliance with company policies, including Privacy/HIPAA, and other legal and regulatory requirements.Collaborate with DevOps to define and build CI/CD automation pipelines.YOU’RE AWESOME AT:Expert knowledge of software engineering, distributed computing, and cloud platformsExperience deploying machine learning models and algorithms using cloud platformsProgramming skills in Spark, Python, or similar programming languagesKnowledge of SQL and data warehousingT-shaped: strong in data engineering, but also strong capabilities to deliver actionable results in a collaborative environment: excellent pragmatic problem solving, attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, curiosity, and a demonstrated ability to learn and grow new skillsAbility to think strategicallyComfortable with a wide array of technologies and programming languages, with demonstrated ability to learn new tools quicklyFamiliarity with Databricks is a plusEXTRA AWESOME:BA in computer science or other quantitative discipline4 years of experience as a data engineer, through a combination of work experience and higher educationWHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

The starting base pay range for this position is $120,000 - $135,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts. You’ll also receive 10 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (starting in year 1) and have access to a 401k plan with company match.
