POSITION TITLE:
Director of Music MinistriesREPORTS DIRECTLY TO:
Senior PastorPURPOSE:
Plan, develop, lead, and coordinate music for all aspects of the music ministry at Platt Springs United Methodist ChurchSKILLS DESIRED:Ability to demonstrate exceptional technique in leading musical groups and leading worshipStrong interpersonal and communication skillsExhibits ability and experience in successfully recruiting and resourcing new volunteers for the music ministryDemonstrates ability to use music/worship softwareExhibits an operational understanding of financial budgeting and fundraisingEDUCATION:
Minimum requirement is a high school diploma and 5 years area work experience; however, an undergraduate degree with special experience in leading music is preferredPRIMARY DUTIES:Leads the choir in regular weekly practice and in worship, Sunday mornings and special services such as Christmas and Easter. Choir practice has historically taken place on Wednesday eveningsSelects anthems and special music showcasing the strengths of musical staff and volunteersPrepares and consults with the pastor and church organist on all worship services including Sunday mornings and special celebrations/servicesPrepares musical staff and volunteers for special music at least 4 weeks in advance, allowing for practice time on Wednesday eveningsRecruits and coordinates music volunteers from the church and the community to enhance the ministries of the churchDevelops and oversees the music ministry budgetEnsures all church owned instruments are appropriately maintainedMaintains and updates the church’s music libraryOther duties as assignedEMPLOYMENT STATUS:Location: Springdale, SCSalary and hours will be determined based on experience and other qualifications.
