We are currently seeking a Senior Domain Architect, Corporate Vice President to stand up and lead our architecture practice within the Field productivity value stream. The value stream is one of 6 within the New York Life’s foundational business and consists of 40 plus applications with a portfolio size of $50M. In addition to being the lead architect for the value stream, the role will also have broader responsibility of governing the Salesforce platform which is currently stood up as a shared service between the 6 value streams in New York Life.

The role will report into the VP of Technology - Value stream Tech lead and will require to closely partner with the VS delivery leads, other technology teams and business partners.

The ideal candidate is expected to be able to design systems and solutions across a broad range of technologies including Salesforce, custom applications and legacy technologies within the context of the Insurance industry. The role requires a strong technical acumen coupled with leadership skills to be able to set the architecture vision and strategy for the value stream including but not limited to understanding the technical landscape and system interactions, security frameworks and role sharing models, integrations, automations, knowledge of the connected app ecosystem, data models and governance.

Qualified applicants must possess a solid background in enterprise architecture, systems design and Salesforce architecture. Experience in other SaaS or low-code no-code platforms is a strong plus. The candidate needs to have served in leadership positions and have had prior experience building the architecture practice and nurturing talent pools.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain inventory of current state technology stack, documentation and architecture artifacts supporting the value stream and understand financial impact of architectural decisions.

Maintain Value Stream alignment on core target-state ecosystem and corresponding architectural metrics and financial outcomes of architectural decisions.

Declare key technology platforms, surface potential universal capabilities, and identify opportunities for consolidation / simplification of legacy.

Develop integrated, multi-year Business / Data/ Technology roadmap to action identified opportunities.

Deploy governance and conceptual solution architectures within the agile delivery processes to support execution against roadmap.

Reinforce product mindset throughout the Value Stream to focus on the rapid delivery of value to agents and customers.

Design solutions that meet the business and technology objectives of the business area following the agreed upon policies, standards, and patterns supplied by the technical centers of enablement.

Sets the architecture vision, strategy and direction for the value stream.

Assists in developing and maintaining an architecture roadmap that aligns with the goals of the Field productivity Value Stream, identifying opportunities for improved sequencing while focusing on technical ecosystem simplification, scalability, modernization and decommissioning opportunities.

Works closely with other leaders within and outside the Value Stream - Product managers, Product Owners, Tech Leads, delivery and Integration leads to achieve desired results.

Engages in complex initiatives and discovery workshops, guiding teams on effectively identifying and resolving cross-dependencies and providing practical solutions.

Works with various levels of the organization to understand business goals, strategies, capabilities, and processes to ensure business and tech alignment.

In partnership with the Value Stream Tech Lead, presents gap analysis and/or IT investment roadmaps that reflect the status of the existing IT landscape, namely, its ability to contribute to future-state business capabilities around ecosystems and digital platforms for the scope of the value stream.

Responsible for coaching, career development and building a competency for solution architects, dev ops with deep technical skills for the value stream including people management responsibilities.

Responsible for representing the value stream and providing inputs into architecture review boards, security, application and compliance related internal NYL processes and forums.

Is seen as a trusted partner to the VS tech leads, delivery leads and the business by establishing credibility early on.

Works collaboratively within and outside of the value streams, centers for enablement and executives to socialize their viewpoints, gain buy-in and consensus.

Knowledge of modern technology ecosystems, SaaS, infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), service-oriented architecture (SOA), APIs, open data, microservices, mobile app development, SSO, cyber security to name a few.

Knowledge of information management practices, system development life cycle, IT services, agile and lean methodologies and enterprise architecture frameworks

Education / Training

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field of study is required.

Experience

15+ years of experience with Enterprise architecture required.

5+ years of Salesforce architecture experience required.

5+ years in the financial services industry

Proven experience in standing up an architecture practice/competency within a team by hiring, coaching and training other architects/solution architects/ leads.

Excellent leadership & communication skills to articulate architecture vision, gain buy-in and align with both business and technical teams.
