Direct Services: Full–Time (35 hours/week) (Monday – Friday & occasional Saturdays: must be flexible with work hours 11pm-7pm / 12pm-8pm)

PROGRAM SUMMARY:

Project S.O.L. [Speak Out Loud]: Health and Human Services for LGBTQ youth, their families & communities

Provide a safe, supportive space in which youth & young adults can explore their feelings, learn communication skills and gain a sense of self-identity, and develop self-esteem

Promote leadership development & skill building

Provide a nurturing environment to assist LGBTQ youth and their families

To educate the broader LES and NYC community on LGBTQ issues

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation and implementation of Health & Human Services for LGBTQ youth, families and community initiatives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree required (psychology, social work/ counseling)

Must have knowledge of and complete comfort with LGBTQ population and issues

Ability to engage young people and adults in educational activities

Experience building trust and sustaining solid relationships with LGBTQ youth and young adults

Experience managing staff

Excellent organizational skills

Strong sense of staff-client boundaries

Good problem-solving skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Must be detail oriented and have the ability to demonstrate good follow through skills

Good verbal and written communication skills

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruit, hire, train, and supervise Peer Educators and stipend program

Create a comprehensive curriculum dedicated to LGBTIA advocacy

Provide leadership and appropriate mentorship to staff to ensure appropriate youth development culture.

Selects and oversees consultant to work with TGNC youth

Coordinates part time staff schedules and program activities; Supervises and provides leadership to part time staff and consultant

Identify opportunities for expanding adolescent sexual health services at Grand St. Settlement

Managing budget with input, collaboration and guidance by supervisor

Work collaboratively with other GSS staff to schedule various initiatives, programs, workshops and events

Facilitate community education workshops for youth and adults

Outreach to other youth-serving agencies, CBO’s and schools

Facilitate street outreach around NYC (Christopher St. Pier, etc.)

Supervise program participants and coordinate activities and field trips

Implement and facilitate activities and support groups for program participants and their families

Attend all necessary trainings and conferences for program effectiveness

Ensure that goals, objectives, and contract deliverables of all contracts and grants requirements for program are met and documented accurately (monthly reports, data entry, etc.)

If selected for this position, applicant must obtain NYC Dept. of Health fingerprint clearance and State Central Registry (SCR) clearance (fees may apply); ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.
