Innovative Reasoning is recruiting for Wargame SMEs in support of Marine Corps University (MCU) Wargaming. This position will be responsible for supporting the planning, development, preparation, setup, execution, instruction, facilitation, and After Action Report support provided to the MCU's wargaming spanning a wide range of support catered to subordinate school's Professional Military Education requirements, of different scope, scale, and duration. Wargame SMEs shall provide education, training, planning, advising, research, and wargame facilitation services across multiple knowledge domains including wargaming, threat capabilities, joint warfighting, multimedia, and information technology services.
Responsibilities/Duties:
The Wargame SME shall:
Provide training curriculum development and maintenance services involving the creation of new material or the revision and updating of existing material for:
Faculty Development (FACDEV) on Wargaming and Wargame Facilitation.Participant training in various Tabletop Wargames.Participant training in various Computer Wargames.
Support curriculum content development and instruction of training-related tasks.Deliver periods of instruction using MCU's Wargaming training program curriculum, supplemental materials, and products.Provide expert instruction on wargaming theory, educational wargaming techniques, and on wargame facilitation.Participate in or conduct wargaming program assessments or assessment activities.Mentor Marines, Sailors, other Service, Interagency, and International Military members.
Supplemental Duties:
Support government-led curriculum development, instruction, and maintenance services for FACDEV on Wargaming and Wargame Facilitation.
Provide Wargaming subject matter expertise and instruction.Product development, event coordination, class execution, instruction, and assessment.Create new material or revise and update existing material, which may require up to one month to complete, or revision requiring up to two weeks to complete.Run a Certification Course in Wargame Facilitation (2 to 4 weeks of instruction, estimated at two times per year).
Support government-led curriculum development, instruction, and maintenance services for a Wargame Facilitation Certification Course.
Provide Wargaming subject matter expertise and instruction.Support content development, product development, event coordination, class execution, instruction, and assessment.Create new instruction materials, which may require up to two months to complete, or revise and rework existing materials which may require up to two weeks to complete.Run Participant Training in various Tabletop Wargames (specific games will vary per the MCU's Wargaming Annual Plan).
Provide training curriculum development, instruction, and maintenance services for participant training in various MCU Wargaming's portfolio including, but not limited to the Marine Corps' Operational Wargame System, Littoral Commander, and a variety of historical tabletop board wargames.
Provide Wargaming subject matter expertise and instruction.Support content development, product development, event coordination, class execution, instruction, and assessment.Create new instruction materials, which may require up to one month to complete, or revision of existing material requiring up to two weeks to complete.Provide updates, or minor maintenance required to reflect small changes or adaptations for a specific training audience.
Run Participant Training in various Computer Wargames (specific wargames will vary per the MCU's Wargaming Annual Plan). Provide training curriculum development and maintenance services for participant training in various MCU Wargaming's portfolio of computer wargames includes, but is not limited to the Command PE, Flashpoint Campaigns, Strategic Command, WarPlan, and a variety of other commercial computer wargames.
Provide Wargaming subject matter expertise and instruction.Support content development, and instruction. Services shall include product development, event coordination, class execution, instruction, and assessment.Create new instruction materials, which may require up to one month to complete, or revise and substantially change existing materials content or incorporate new wargaming content (such as a new game tool), which may require up to two weeks to complete.

Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED
A Master's degree in Strategic Studies, Military Studies, National Security, International Relations, or other related fields.
Experience/Qualification:
REQUIRED
At least twelve (12) years' experience communicating with military, civil service, senior leaders, and highly technical SMEs.Demonstrated foundational knowledge of wargaming concepts and associated skills, possessing significant first-hand experience in playing and facilitating a combination of traditional board wargames and computer wargames.Demonstrated ability to both develop curriculum and instruct training-related tasks.
PREFERRED
A military background that includes resident or non-resident PME courses at an Intermediate Level School (ILS) (Command & Staff College (CSC) equivalent).Demonstrated capability with providing expert instruction on wargaming theory, educational wargaming techniques, and on wargame facilitation.
Knowledge/Skills:
Foundational knowledge with development of a training and orientation package, as needed, to achieve desired outcomes.Strong communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.Able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.Able to design and write clear communications and present training programs.Able to participate in or conduct wargaming program assessments and activities.Proficient in computer applications such as Windows and MS Office.

Physical Demands:
Work is generally sedentary, which requires sitting most of the time. Work will involve moderate lifting, carrying no more than 15 lbs.
Work Schedule:
Mon-Fri/8 hours a day. Normal working hours are 08:00AM - 5:00PM.
License and Other Requirements:
Possession of a valid driver's license and availability of private transportation may be required for some positions in this job class (mileage expense allowance provided). Comply with Safer Federal Workforce standards.
