Job Summary

The person in this position is under supervision, to operate a school bus over designated routes in transporting students safely and efficiently: and to perform related work as required:•Conducts daily safety inspections of assigned bus before beginning the route;•Transports students, faculty and parents on field trips to athletic events, meeting departure and arrival times as scheduled;•Maintains buses in a clean and safe condition;•Maintains good order among students on the buses and while waiting at the bus stops, also conducts bus evacuation training, if passengers are handicapped, provides special care and assistance as appropriate;•Keeps records of the operation of assigned vehicles as required by the District, completes daily reports on the operating condition and/or defects of assigned bus;•Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Requirements / Qualifications

- California State Driver's License Class "B" with a "P" endorsementand a Special Driving Certificate for school buses are required- High School Diploma or Equivalent- Please provide a current Motor Vehicle Report from the Department of Motor Vehicles with application.- Valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record.- Proof of automobile insurance.- Valid First Aid and CPR Certificates.- Incumbents are subject to mandatory alcohol and drug testing.

Comments and Other Information

Current employees working in a different job classification and desiring to make application for a vacant position should complete and submit an Application for Classified Employment to the Personnel Office prior to the posted deadline. An employee requesting to transfer from one work site to another work site in the same job classification, must complete and submit a classified Request for Transfer to the Personnel Office prior to the deadline. Outside applicants will also be considered.
