The city is currently recruiting for Assistant Day Camp Director. Assistant Camp Director works to further the mission of the Camp Fife program through the planning and delivery of camp programs and staff training and assists in the management of overall camp operations at the direction of the Camp Director and the Events & Marketing Specialist.
Must maintain flexibility and be available to meet the coverage needs during camp. Hours of work may vary each week depending on need. Camp Fife operates Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The hours for this position will typically be 40 hours per week.
Salary: $20.00 - $22.00 Hourly
Job Type: Full-Time, Seasonal

Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIESAssist the Camp Director with administration, communication and logistics before, during and after each camp sessionAssist with the supervision, training and development of Camp CounselorsSupervise activities ensuring staff and youth participation occurs in a safe manner and environmentCommunicates feedback between participants, parents, staff and Camp DirectorPrepares documents such as letters, program evaluation forms, accident reports, daily logs, etc.Maintains compliance with all applicable City, County and State laws and City ordinances, policies and procedures at all timesPerform minor maintenance/custodial dutiesPerforms facility opening and closing responsibilitiesOther duties as assignedQualifications
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
High school graduateMust be at least 18 years of age at time of hireOrganized and consistentAt least one year of work in recreation, education or childcare with the focus on youth ages 6 to 12Strong communication both written and verbalValid CPR/First Aid/AED certification or the ability to obtain during the training weekSuccessful completion of background checkPossession and maintenance of current WA State Driver's LicenseAbility to drive a vehicle including a 15-passenger shuttle van and maintain an acceptable driving record per city guidelinesKnowledge of:
Recreation programs, services and appropriate activities for youth (ages 6 to 12)Conflict-resolution strategies and how to properly utilize themStrategies to positively engage youth in a motivational mannerEffective ways to lead and engage a teamGeneral first aidLegal and defensive driving practicesAbility To:
Interact effectively and professionally with a wide variety of participants and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgroundsRespond calmly and appropriately to emergenciesExplain and enforce facility and program guidelines, policies, and proceduresMaintain a professional appearance and wear program uniform as requiredShow up with an enthusiastic and positive attitudeLead activities in art, sports, and games for youth (ages 6 to 12)Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills with City staff, general public, program participants and parents/guardiansCommunicate with the ability to understand and give verbal and written instructions in the English languageAdditional Information

Ability to carry up to 40 pounds.Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to assist program participants.Hearing and speaking to exchange information.Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate recreation equipment, computer keyboard, and other office equipment.Visual ability to identify and respond to environmental hazardsPhysical mobility and endurance to respond to emergencies or programs that may require hiking or traveling distances up to 1+ miles on trails or in wilderness areasSeeing, speaking, hearing, sitting or standing for extended periods
