Job SummaryThe CDP Box Truck Driver works with the CDP Leads and the Transportation Logistic/Supply Chain Manager to plan and execute various pickups & deliveries throughout the organization and assist with the servicing of retail locations with truck deliveries. Additional responsibilities may include working within retail locations and outlets in different capacities. The Driver provides excellent customer service to internal and external people. At times the CDP Box Truck Driver may interact with customers at both residential and commercial pick-up locations while demonstrating exceptional safety in and out of the vehicle.Hours of Operation: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday thru Saturday
and
9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday
Example Duties and ActivitiesSafely operates an automatic transmission 26' box truck following all rules of the road. Maintains a clean nonsmoking van that operates by Kaizen standards on a daily basis.
Performs light maintenance, replaces fuel tanks, and records safety inspections on the truck.
Loads and unloads materials onto trailers with proper loading techniques and weight distribution.
Plans, organizes, and executes the activities of the day.
Monitors pickup inventory and store drop-off inventory. Ensures that pickups are completed in a timely manner in accordance with the daily schedule.
Proactively addresses and follows up with all concerns and customer service issues as well as communicates those concerns with CDP Leads or Transportation Logistic/Supply Chain Manager keeping them informed of opportunities and daily concerns.
Maintains a positive environment that is cohesive to achieve goals. Provides a clean, fun, and safe environment for all customers and fellow employees.
Maintains a personal level of performance consistent with corporate guidelines.
Provides a maximum level of customer service to ensure repeat donors. Ensures all customers are greeted at the door with a handshake, introducing oneself, and thanking the donors for their time, donations, and support.
Builds and develops relationships with customers to determine product needs.
Maintains effective communication with other retail leadership staff and support staff.
Is an active and productive site member when not driving and will be directed by CDP Leads or Transportation Logistic/Supply Chain to assist in any and all operational functions at a site.
Required CompetenciesDriving Expertise - Possesses a strong sense of direction and ability to safely drive a 26' box truck and is familiar with Indiana's geography of urban and rural communities.
Customer Focus - Has the ability to see, comprehend and relate with customers in an impartial, unbiased yet effective and balanced manner; builds and maintains customer satisfaction with the products and services offered by the organization; provides excellent service to internal and external customers.
Communication Skills - Articulates thoughts and expresses ideas effectively using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to comprehend customers' needs. Delivers information in person, in writing, and in a digital world.
Mathematical Aptitude - Is able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Computes rate, ratio, and percent and draws and interprets bar graphs; skid counts, carton counts, and computing total quantities.

Preferred CompetenciesDegree and Credential Requirements - Current valid Indiana Chauffer's License or ability to obtain.

Hard to Very Hard Physical Work - Is able to spend time in excess of 8 hours standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and crouching. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaches with hands and arms. Can climb, balance, talk and hear. Has the ability to move and lift up to 50 pounds. Can manage frequent exposure to loud noises, outside weather conditions, and moving mechanical parts. Will be occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. There is a risk of electrical shock and vibration.
Visual Acuity - Has close, distance, peripheral, color vision abilities, and is able to adjust focus.
