Kinetic Automation is building a network of automated repair centers for modern vehicles. The auto industry is transitioning from mechanically complex vehicles to mechanically simple ones with complex software and technology. Kinetic aims to be the primary infrastructure-as-a-service for servicing future vehicles with our robotic repair centers, powered by our proprietary software and AI. We are a strong team of experienced robotics + automotive + shared mobility enthusiasts who have worked in self-driving, mapping, lidar, motorsport, ride-sharing and ghost kitchens. We are a venture backed (Series-A) startup with a clear go-to-market strategy and a line of sight to meaningful revenue.
About the role
We are looking for a software engineer to help build out a state-of-the-art automated garage for service and repair of advanced vehicles (think EVs and AVs). This role requires: Advanced knowledge of geometric methods in computer vision such as SLAM, stereo reconstruction and bundle adjustment Significant experience with numerical optimization techniques including formulating medium to large-scale optimization problems, using state-of-the-art solvers and discipline around measuring precision and accuracy Working knowledge of linear systems theory, estimation and control Some experience with high DOF robotic manipulators is a plus (theory and/or practice) Deep experience in software development (C++, Python) About you
The type of person that will succeed at Kinetic will have the following traits:
Has an extremely high intellectual curiosity and attention to detail Likes assisting and mentoring colleagues that need help to succeed in their roles Wants to work at a robotics company that has a real and near-term path to commercialization Likes the idea of fast iteration cycles for deep-tech products with customer feedback Has a calm temperament but a deep desire to win Understands the upside potential of joining a deep-tech company early Loves robots
