General Role Description

Define and execute comprehensive strategies for the Renewable Energy Systems (RES) market segment within the Business Unit (BU) to meet the short and mid-term period (1 to 3 years) of the Mid-Range Plan (MRP) and the mid-term (2-5 years) strategy, and the healthy, sustainable, and profitable growth of the Company. Own the P&L for the market segment.

Role Accountabilities

Develop the annual and semi-annual Mid-Range Plan (MRP) to forecast the orders, sales, contribution margin, and income before taxes for the market segment. Align the segment MRP to the company and BU vision as set forth by senior management.

Coordinate and influence within the BU and the entire organization to execute the MRP plan and achieve the committed P&L for the market segment.

Design and staff an organizational structure that can effectively ensure successful execution of the market development and orders strategies.

Monitor and investigate industry and economic trends, the Company’s market position, competitive threats, and opportunities in the market to assess how these factors might change over time, affect currently saved markets, and to recommend new, viable, domestic and international markets for the market segment.

Assess the Company’s capabilities, products, services, and technologies to recommend new offerings and enhancements that position the business unit to achieve long term objectives within the market segment.

Ensure effective risk management and communication, in compliance with Company and parent company policies and contractual terms and conditions, to protect the organization from liability.

Develop, maintain and continuously improve the system by which client relationships are strengthened and the orders strategy is fulfilled effectively.

Nurture current and establish new client senior management relationships to position the Company to successfully bid on and secure, and execute projects.

Balance client advocacy with the Company’s interests to achieve best overall result.

Ensure development, distribution and realization of Market Segment orders plans.

Create, manage, and guide an organization to execute the day-to-day operations and projects to drive client satisfaction, in collaboration with the BU Directors and resources.

Build and sustain productive relationships with the appropriate TMEIC division(s) to ensure collaboration with, and responsiveness to, parent company. Ensure timely and accurate communication of issues, concerns, and requests for assistance are acknowledged and subsequently addressed by Company and parent company.

Assess the BU’s capabilities, products, services, and technologies to determine its position relative to the competitors in the market segment.

Develop Marketing Requirement Specifications (MRS) for new products, solutions, and upgrades to existing products to position the BU to achieve long term objectives.

Ensure alignment between MRS and Engineering specification for product/upgrade development in collaboration with BU engineering and parent company divisions.

Develop and execute Go-To-Market strategy and collaborate with Marketing, Business Development, and the BU Commercial Director on product launch.

Develop relationships with a network of purchase influencers within current and potential industries to position the company to identify new opportunities.

Proactively and positively promote and exemplify the Company brand to internal and external contacts and the general public.

Develop relationships within a network of internal, domestic and global company contacts to coordinate and influence securing the resources needed for implementing the BU’s strategies.

Plan and execute projects to aid in improving and growing the BU’s business to meet goals set by BU senior management, in collaboration with the Operations Director.

Report results as scheduled and requested to Company and parent company management, including, but not limited to, research, analysis, evaluation, and recommendations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, economics, business, or equivalent via education and/or work experience.

3 years of experience leading and developing managers.

5 years of capital projects experience in metals, material handling, solar, oil and gas and/or related general industries.

Demonstrated success establishing and communicating business unit vision, goals and objectives.

Demonstrated success developing and implementing strategic business plans to meet or exceed revenue and profit goals.

Demonstrated success developing new markets.

Demonstrated strong collaboration, problem-solving, change management and influencing skills.

Demonstrated success developing, implementing, measuring, and improving effective systems.

Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility.

Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills.

Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts.

Proficiency in MS Office.

Availability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25%, sometimes with limited notice.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in business administration, finance, engineering, or a related field.

3 years of experience leading a business unit with P&L accountability in a technical, project-based business.

Experience in a business with foreign ownership, preferably Japanese.
