SUMMARY
This role contains both strategic and tactical elements. A primary responsibility will be optimizing our response to OEM end of life notifications and preparing responsive cross-Viasat buys. Strategically this needs to be done more proactively, efficiently and faster. This role will work closely with our Demand Planning team, program buyers, components engineering, our strategic sourcing team, and our operations program managers to ensure we have aligned demand requirements, have assessed trade-offs, and can efficiently execute fulfillment. In our present market, we also receive regular allocation notices that need more effective responses than before. Sometimes this means simply "find parts now" and sometime there are opportunities to strategically leverage escalations and supply chain relationships to leverage favor.
The effective candidate will have both excellent interpersonal and influence talents, along with attention to detail and problem solving. Strategic thinking will also be required, and the candidate should have familiarity with semiconductor component families.
Job Responsibilities
Meeting OEMs and distributors regularly for business updates, market conditions, sharing regular Viasat forecasts, and leveraging relationship for escalations. Providing preferred/strategic OEMs introductions and integration to BAs and engineering.Creating and executing last time buy processes or alternative solutions to end of life events.Overseeing consolidated shortage list and Purchase Price Variance tracking / management. Developing tools to support related data aggregation/ commodity management dashboards, leveraging key tools such as workflow tracking tools, part trackers and component Lifecycle management platforms.Working with Analytics teams to proactively identify risks, build consumptions models and produce road map suggestions.Searching for and securing parts (brokers, samples, distribution, escalation, expedites), prioritizing for OEMs based on revenue impact and criticality.Working closely with Operations program managers and planning to ensure coverage for all business needs, including coordination of centralized supply aggregation effortsPlacing consolidated POs for component buys.Ensuring DPAS is tracked to the OEM order level.Attending / Key member of the electronics commodity council, aligning with sourcing and supporting electronic commodity strategiesRequirements
Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.8+ years of experience working with suppliers in an entrepreneurial, high-tech environment.Familiarity with semi-conductor product families and supply chainExperience with ERP system, Oracle or similar preferredAttention to detail- ability to digest multiple sources of data, compile into a coherent picture and identify abnormalitiesUnderstanding of supply chain functions and their importance (demand/supply planning, procurement, material control).Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation skills, including the ability to present to Executive and program leadership.Excellent interpersonal and influence skills - ability to orchestrate activities across multiple functions and supply chain partners, with no direct authoritySkilled user of Microsoft Office suite of business software: Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.U.S. CitizenshipAbility to travel up to 25%Preferences
