Childrens Hospital of Richmond at VCU has committed itself to transforming the Division of Adolescent Medicine into a model academic unit devoted to excellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational, and basic research.
Chief Purpose of this position:
The Division of Adolescent Medicine shares responsibilities for education and clinical care in an academic outpatient adolescent health service. Opportunities exist for consultation with juvenile detention centers, community outreach/advocacy, and collaboration with adolescent gynecology and child/adolescent psychiatry. Requires teaching and mentorship to medical students, residents and fellows.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching
Faculty member will have teaching responsibilities in the area of Adolescent Medicine. Faculty member will provide guidance and mentorship to Residents and Chief Residents in the area of Adolescent Medicine.
Research
Faculty member will have working knowledge in basic research methods and be able to participate in clinical, translational and outcomes research.
Service
Faculty member will serve on departmental or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate, as well as professional activities through journal review, conference presentations, etc.
Clinical
Faculty member will provide oversight for clinical activities of the division of Adolescent Medicine in support of the clinical mission of CHoR of VCU Health system.
Required Qualifications:
- Board Certification in General Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
- Experience with Adolescents
- Experience with education of house-staff, medical students, and others
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sub-board and or additional graduate degree
- Experience with advocacy at local, state, and national level
- Success in generating revenue (grants/contracts)
