Abdominal (Body) Imaging, Division Chief

The Department of Radiology at the University of Missouri-Columbia (MU) is seeking a Division Director of Abdominal Imaging. At MU, Abdominal Imaging performs a full complement of diagnostic abdominal imaging procedures including MRI, CT, US, Fluoroscopy, and plain film. The Department of Radiology performs >370,000 exams per year and is financially successful. The Abdominal Imaging Division has earned the respect of their referring providers and enjoys a highly varied and interesting case mix.

What we expect from you:

  • A record of clinical, academic, and leadership success with a strong interest in mentorship, teaching, and research
  • Responsible for achieving and maintaining excellence in the clinical, teaching, and research activities of the Abdominal Imaging Division and being a role model for radiology faculty and residents
What you can expect from us:
  • A single large Abdominal Imaging Reading Room in the University Hospital that serves patients from all MU locations and provides a collaborative environment for clinical practice and resident/fellow education
  • Radiology Assistants/Physician Assistants assist with general fluoroscopy under the direction of the Abdominal Imaging faculty
  • Highly collaborative working relationships with radiology colleagues and referring providers
  • Diverse case mix
    • MU is the primary tertiary referral center for the regional mid-Missouri hospitals. In addition to the main University Hospital, MU Health Care encompasses the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, Missouri Orthopedic Institute, a new Children’s Hospital, and multiple outpatient clinic facilities.
    • MU Health Care is the only American College of Surgeons (ACS)-certified Level I Trauma Center in mid-Missouri and one of only six in the state.
  • State-of-the-art imaging equipment including 9 MRI scanners (one 7T, four 3T, four 1.5 T) and 7 CT scanners (including multiple dual-energy CTs and two photon counting CT’s).
  • No CT or US-guided procedures required
  • Academic Rank commensurate with experience
  • Non-tenure or tenure track
Research:

We have a strong basic science division with strength in MRI physics. Research coordinator and biostatistical support for clinical faculty research projects are provided. 
Required Qualifications:
  • MD/DO, ABR Board-certified in Radiology
  • Successful completion of an abdominal imaging fellowship
Candidates will be evaluated on: 
  • 3+ years of subspecialty practice in Abdominal Imaging
  • History of academic success in education, research, service, and/or leadership
