ACP is committed to meeting America’s national security, economic and climate goals with fast-growing, low-cost, and reliable domestic power.General Position SummaryThe Manager, Events Business Development is a motivated and resourceful team member in the Events Business Development department. The Manager will be responsible for driving business growth for ACP by developing initiatives to attract new clients, researching new market opportunities, and overseeing growth projects. The manager will be tasked to research and identify new leads for exhibits, sponsorships, and specialty services primarily for ACP Conferences collaborating with sales team members for fulfillment of services. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, networking professional, creative, team player and someone who is driven to succeed.The Manager will interact with all levels of staff within ACP, across all departments and disciplines, and with key external stakeholders and members. Excellent communication skills, professionalism, organizational skills and a desire to learn the industry are necessary attributes for this position. The renewable energy industry is a fast paced, emerging space and ACP’s Events Business Development team reflects that and manages priorities accordingly. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.Develop business initiatives and growth strategies alongside VP, Business Development that meet business goals focused on client satisfaction.Identify revenue generating opportunities for ACP’s conferences through a consultative sale approach.Research organizations and individuals to find new opportunities and build long-term relationships to reach a target of 80% new business, 20% existing.Generate a defined individual business development plan to achieve department revenue goals which meet and exceed sales goals and budgets.Promote ACP’s services addressing client needs and desired ROI.Develop and nurture relationships with key customer accounts.Assessing client needs and ACP’s ability to meet those needs through collaboration of ACP’s in-house experts.Manage client outreach to include scheduling calls/meetings, preparing proposals and contracts, presenting/pitching virtually or in person.Responsible for contracting and rebooking overall partnership terms with ACP.Attends conferences, meetings, and industry events to research and prospect new business.Responsible for communicating client requests and agreements to sales team for fulfilment and ensuring a smooth transition.Acts as mentor to entry level team members when needed.Collaborates with Marketing, Programming, and Logistics teams to ensure all agreements are clear and sales team is set up for success to meet fulfillment deadlines.Assists with preparing promotional material to advertise sales opportunities.Supports the VP and Director with departmental projects, such as new sponsorship ideas and sponsorship prospectus development.Travel to ACP events to provide onsite support and ensure clients are satisfied.Education, Experience & SkillsBachelor's or associate degree in relevant field desired, or combination of education and work experience.4-6 years of progressive experience in sales and events, experience in trade shows preferred.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Map Your Show and other CRMs preferred.Must have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work with people at all organizational levels, and the knowledge and ability to resolve conflicts.Demonstrated experience providing excellent, timely and proactive customer service.Ability to research effectively, project manage and prioritize, and develop sales strategies.High level of business intelligence.Strong networking skills and desire to do so.Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Well versed and knowledgeable of major events industry trends.Ability to travel (25%+) including occasional work/travel over weekends.May be required to lift up to 30 lbs. with assistance and have the ability to load/unload shipments.Job ConditionsWe are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required.We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $70,000- 90,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs.
