Business Development Manager

responsible for achieving supplier objectives, key performance indicators, and targets by implementing strategies and tactics while managing and developing in-market customers in a manner that will achieve profitable long-term growth. The ideal candidate will be an ambassador for a major spirits supplier and bring insight, best practices to assigned accounts, while increasing market share.

Duties and Responsibilities

Drive brand success via leadership selling and actively supporting the selling efforts of sales reps, district managers, and key account specialists within the wholesalerDrive market share and visibility within assigned 50+ on and 50+ off-premise accounts, driving displays, size distribution, menu placements, shelf management, and signageResponsible for implementing a major spirits supplier's execution plans to maximize sales in assigned accountsMonitor field implementation and execution of programs within assigned accounts to ensure merchandising excellenceDevelop and execute against major spirits supplier's multi-cultural platform in assigned accountsFacilitate and execute against major spirits supplier's charitable platform, while encouraging customers to include such spirits in their philanthropic endeavorsRegularly interact with field management for updating programming and brand priorities, brand standards and best practices leading to successful execution in the marketProvide detailed tracking reports of wholesaler performance against agreed-to supplier objectivesDevelop key account relationships that deliver measurable resultsWork with key assigned teams to deliver monthly goals (work-withs, product training, samples, etc.)Create, coordinate, and attend on-site promotional and charitable functions at established customer accounts (e.g. events, managed bar nights, mixology events, and trade tastings)Analyze brand performance, brand competitiveness, and product trends in the marketplace and develop strategies for assigned brand based on research and analysis.Perform other job-related duties as assignedQualifications

Bachelor’s degreeIndustry related sales experience within the distribution, hospitality or supplier-communityValid state motor vehicle operator’s license and ability to obtain and maintain auto liability insurance in accordance with State lawsPreferred Qualifications

Comprehensive understanding of spirits to include mixology, merchandising, and competitive setAbility to adapt and can assist a variety of internal customer groups and varying personality types, especially on-premise operators and mixologistsStrong negotiation skills; demonstrate an entrepreneurial spiritAbility to create and sell innovative ideasGoal oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction or supervisionEffective communication skills to present information, interpret and respond appropriately to different audiences.Strong relationship building skills to develop insight into customer needs, provide options and meet the customer’s and the company’s business needsAbility to work flexible hours which include early morning, evenings, and/or weekends due to on-premise account promotions, education/mixology programs, and charitable eventsAbility to work overnight travel as requiredAbility to participate in business meetings, company initiatives and events upon requestProficient at reviewing comparative sales data for analysisStay apprised of federal, state and local laws affecting the beverage/alcohol industry within account responsibilityPhysical Demands
