The Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy PIE is responsible for supporting the Department of Correctional Health in developing and supporting the implementation of a comprehensive health equity and inclusive leadership strategic plan. In the plan’s development, the PIE serves as a subject matter expert in performance excellence and organizational development. The aim is to solidify an actionable plan to address the complex needs of the Department of Correctional Health’s staff to advance an inclusive work environment and maintain a safe and equitable environment for care delivery. The PIE will identify opportunities for improvement in service delivery and align staff educational needs to the ongoing health equity strategy. The function of this role is to align traditional HR workforce staffing methodologies, organizational development, continuous quality improvement, and health equity to support broader Los Angeles Health Services Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Antiracism Initiative objectives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSConstruct the process for developing, maintaining, and reporting on the Department of Correctional Health’s health equity and inclusive excellence strategic planDevelop and implement strategies to promote equity, justice, antiracism, and antidiscrimination for all patients and staff regardless of but not limited to age, race, ethnicity, language, religion, spiritual practice, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, and socioeconomic and mental/physical statusProvide leadership guidance, performance coaching, and technical support to department leadership and staff, establishing and implementing training for topics related to DEI efforts and the DEIA InitiativeOrganize and facilitate workshops and meetings for staff and leaders related to the health equity and DEI effortsProvide ongoing support (as needed) to evaluate strategies and progress through a data driven approach; utilize metrics to help inform priorities and measure the effectiveness of programs and initiativesProvide research and analyses on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics, identifying best practices in correctional healthcare and other industries, and make recommendations for strategies and solutionsWork to build collaborative relationships with leadership teams and staff across the organization to ensure racial and health equity, diversity, and inclusion change efforts are integrated and in alignment with county-wide organizational DEIA goalsDevelop necessary organizational structure for ongoing facilitation of multi-disciplinary Health Equity Steering Committee to advise on strategic goals and measures of success, and collaborates with other committees, to promote broad perspective gathering and cross institutional collaboration and knowledge sharingProvide ongoing assistance ad hoc to support the implementing, maintaining, and controlling newly established processesPerforms other duties as needed and related to the needs of the department in the strategy formulation process and early stages of implementationJOB QUALIFICATIONSRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in social justice studies, ethnic studies, public policy, public health, psychology, public administration, health administration, nursing, business administration or a related fieldA minimum of three (3) years administrative experience implementing, directing, and overseeing diversity, equity, and inclusion solutions or leading workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in a large healthcare organizationDesired Experience:Master’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, social sciences, or a related fieldA minimum of seven (7) years consulting on diversity, equity, and inclusion health related projects and knowledge of best practices for healthcare organizations striving to become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive; or a minimum of seven (7) years of management experienceA minimum of three (3) years working in/or with a correctional health programA minimum of three (3) years effectively partnering with governmental agencies, community groups, and various business, professional, educational, regulatory, and legislative organizationsDemonstrated processes for addressing healthcare inequities through quality improvement and/or workforce diversityand inclusion best practicesKnowledge of social, political, and environmental issues influencing health equity program development and implementationExperience facilitating dialogue and difficult conversations with diverse groups of internal and external stakeholdersExpertise with goal setting, program development, implementation, and evaluationProven track record of data-driven approaches for analyses and evaluation of projects, programs, policies, procedures, and operational needsAbility to conduct a policy analysis and lay out methods for developing organizational policies specific to healthcare equity and DEI issuesUnderstanding of federal, state, and local laws, regulatory codes, ordinances, and emerging practices that support or hinder advancing equity strategies and objectives across correctional health operationsEducation/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in social justice studies, ethnic studies, public policy, public health, psychology, public administration, health administration, nursing, business administration or a related fieldCertificates/Licenses/ClearancesSuccessful clearing through the Live Scan process with the County of Los Angeles.Other Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesCandidates will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a shared governance environment and build productive relationships with a broad range of constituents.Candidates should also have progressively responsible administrative experience that includes the advancement of diversity and inclusion initiatives; a background in strategic planning, budget development and staff supervision; a record of demonstrated integrity, professionalism and good judgment; commitment to transparent leadership, including commitment to staff professional development and wellness;
