Business Analyst Position
General Job DescriptionThis position is responsible for enterprise-wide business analysis of web applications for the Office of Information Management (OIM) and its customers. This position will work closely with multiple stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and development teams to document business requirements. The Business Analyst will report to the Project Manager to ensure business requirements, enhancements, modifications, and newly identified business initiatives are thoroughly documented for successful implementation of Information Technology solutions.
Specific Tasks
Working with customers and project management team to develop business requirements in response to requests for systems enhancements, modifications, and newly identified business initiativesWorking with technical team and vendor to ensure requirements are incorporated into systems design and testingEvaluating alternative strategies and making recommendations for viable solutions that are compatible with current technologies and systemsDeveloping requirements documentation and business flow diagramsActively participating in functional and systems integration unit testing; creating test plans, scenarios, and testing resultsAssisting customers with testingDeveloping and presenting training to customersProviding implementation and maintenance supportMeeting regularly with customersProactively making suggestions for systems and process improvement and performing competitive, problem, and opportunity analysis, emphasizing integration, experimentation, creative brainstorming, early complexity assessment, and capturing results in the form of a business case to propose a new change initiativeKeep Project Manager informed of key issues that may impact project implementationFacilitate project conference calls, status meetings, planning sessions, and provide for meeting notesUtilizing system based project management applications, collaboration applications, and MS Office applications; Visio, SharePoint, Google Meets, Teams, etcRequired Experience and Skill SetKnowledge of relational databases(SQL), system development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, quality assurance techniques, and change management proceduresDemonstrates skill in project planning, requirements gathering, business analysis, business process mapping, procedural writing, process engineering, problem-solving, active listening, negotiation, conflict resolution, group visitation, written and oral communication, organization and time management, and presentation skillsAble to manage, coordinate, and prioritize multiple activities concurrently with limited supervision and to adjust efficiently and effectively to changing priorities.Knowledge of business process engineering methodsKnowledge and experience using multiple project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Iterative, and AgileAbility to blend methodologies together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environmentMust be able to operate effectively in a changing environment with multiple prioritiesStrong attention to detail, with the ability to follow-throughExcellent verbal and written communications skillsStrong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demandsBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems or Computer Science, or equivalent experiencePreferred Experience and Skill SetExperience with Healthcare Information SystemsExperience performing systems analysis, architecting technical solutions, and/or coordinating application development projectsExperience or knowledge with the Commonwealth of Virginia Information Security Standard, SEC 501Experience with RFPs; creation, coordination, and review
