Using PNS and CNS axon injuries as the primary model systems, we aim to understand how stress responses enable axon regeneration in the PNS but drive neurodegeneration in the CNS. Harnessing these transcriptional programs may provide opportunities for neuroprotection and CNS repair. We are seeking a talented and motivated Specialist to participate in and run research projects in the field of cellular stress signaling in neurons. Primary responsibilities will be for the design and execution of experiments using common molecular and cell biological techniques, primarily cell culture and transcriptomic analysis, in collaboration with other lab members and the PI. Secondary responsibilities will consist of assisting in laboratory management duties. There will be opportunities for collaborations with other laboratories at UCSF, other academic institutions, and industry partners. This position also includes opportunities for skill training, career development, presentations, data analysis, developing and testing new hypotheses, and authorships, in alignment with the experience, interests, and contributions of the candidate.Required Qualifications:Junior Specialist- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience.Assistant Specialist- A master's degree or a bachelor's degree with 3 or more years of research experience.Associate Specialist- A master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of research experience.Full Specialist- A terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of research experience.Candidates meet the requirements at the time of appointment.Candidate's CV must state qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.Preferred Qualifications
